Australia’s 2025 election is more than a political outcome. It is a philosophical reaffirmation that power, when untethered from fear, returns to its rightful source. The people. In casting their votes, Australians did not just choose leaders. They reclaimed authorship of their future.

Labor might have struck a landslide, but the Greens saw a bit of a collapse as a result. A majority Labor govt just means we get an unchecked neoliberal status quo. No one to keep them honest. Dutton would’ve been a disaster but Labor are not progressive by international standards either.
The leader of the Greens, previously thought to be a safe seat, is hanging on by a thread, and may still lose it. The two Greens Brisbane seats have been wiped out. Samantha Ratnam in my electorate of Wills, MAY gain it but that’s still to be seen as the count continues.
Labor are pretty bad for the environment. Old growth forest logging and new fossil fuel projects still getting approved under Labor. Elections can’t really get us out of the mess we are in regarding ecological collapse. Still relying on protest and direct action. Keep up the fight #auspol
That’s what happens when you champion better wages, free childcare, equal pay, diversity, climate action, free trade schools, National Medicare insurance and low cost prescriptions, while also running a well balanced budget. Well done Albanese.

Which raises the Big Question - when will Americans wake up and realize that THEY are the ones in charge? That THEY have the right to dictate their own future? That THEY have the ONLY authority to correct their own mistakes?
Our electoral system is far better than the shambles and corruption of the American system. We are also more civilized and democratic in our process and don't fear being shot at whilst waiting in line to vote. Australia has rejected the FRWNJ's/Trumpism and the crazy Maga-lite that live amongst us.
I'm guessing that you're not Australian. The better choice won, true. A far better result would have been a minority government, where the centrist party (ALP) would have to negotiate in both houses of Parliament with actual kinda-leftists.

We live with the illusion that our votes count. With systematic gerrymandering,ungodly amounts of money infused in elections,an electoral college, restrictive, unreasonable voting requirements and the tampering/manupulation of ballot counting, our votes don't quite matter as much.
Sadly, the US no longer qualifies. “Democracy is a form of government in which political power is vested in the people or the population of a state.”
