i wish US politics were adult enough that we could abandon having a combat veteran be a big selling point for candidates. we can see there is nothing especially brave about killing people; people do that every day, always have. those same people are rarely brave enough to stand up to actual power
we have plenty of veterans in congress. its pretty clear they have not turned them into a courageous deliberative body with integrity that respects the constitution. "i will follow orders to carry out a war widely known to be based on false premises" doesnt tell me something positive about someone!
