I'm just old enough to remember when Jerry Ford took over from Nixon, and I tend to see JD as Ford 2.0: a nobody, a joke, a bumbling buffoon who sweeps up after the operatic villain has left the stage.

Yeah. Ford was a basically decent person, a bit dull. Vance is not. Vance is a compulsive liar. I think his wife is running him, and who knows what she thinks?

I mean, the reason Nixon picked Ford after Agnew resigned was precisely because he was an affable nobody.
