How does any client w/a regulatory matter get past the conflict check for onboarding? If an atty in DC cannot take on a client bc another atty in LA has a vaguely conflicting matter w/ the same parties, how can a lawyer take on a regulatory issue when the WHOLE fucking firm is in the bag for the gov?

That’s not how conflicts work at large firms. The actual rules about conflicts of interest are complicated but, while a firm can’t be on both sides of a single matter, they can often represent both parties in other, unrelated matters.
