The California legal code...that's where laws go....wtf?
I meant the reference information rather than some anecdotal statement

Gotcha. My fault. One second
California has passed a set of laws that make it easier to override local zoning to expand housing capacity but, as of this date, the state government has largely failed at holding the most flagrant violators (SF, LA, etc) to account when it comes to expanding housing.

i don't see how one lawsuit under the new laws for 2700 units is proof that sufficient volume has been met under the current set of reforms. that's the point of my criticism.
I'd like you to point me to where I made that claim.

like i'm very happy that something is finally happening but this is still a far cry from the progress that is needed. if newsom is going to use his powers as executive to make it easier to rebuild in the burnzone, he should go ahead and loosen them for LA in general.
Yes, I agree. I never stated it was enough, but the original post was acting like he's done absolutely nothing. A big problem is on the development side as well. Builders get far higher ROI in other states, so there's little incentive to build anything but luxury here
This is to say, that evidence doesn’t exist yet. Would love for Newsom to actually, you know, act on that.
Really this is not strong enough for the crisis facing CA but it's a good first step www.yimbylaw.org/buildersremedy
There's issues on the developers end as well. The ROI on building for them just isn't competitive with what they'd get for doing so in the rest of the country. I read a good thread on here or on reddit that made valid points about this that I'm having a hard time locating right now
No I hear you on that - more absolutely needs to be done. This is taking too long.
