Big Costco fan here, but most of my shopping is at my local family owned grocery store with wonderful staff that they take great care of. They’re really diverse including employing local special needs adults, it’s really a joy to shop there. Remember your local stores! They support your community

Lovin my new Costco membership.
Years ago I bought in Costco, and not Target, because of their values and commitment to customers. While it's not profitable, Costco stock is somewhat recession-proof like a utility company, and affirms companies who stand for decency. They offer employees decent benefits and a livable wage.
Costco is my first stop for shopping. I love Costco.
That there are so few big companies that recognize this bit of obviousness has been one of the most depressing developments of the second Trump horror.

Haven't set foot in Target since, but have easily spent $1000 in the last few months at Costco. It's reassuring to see that our refusal to shop in those delightful Target halls is paying off.

I hadn’t had a CostCo membership in years until this year, when they held their ground on DEI. Now I do. Meanwhile, I have had an Amazon Prime membership for over a decade, but I will not be re-upping. I’m so over Trumpism, fascism, racism, and all those who cave in to Project 2025.

Can we know that? The incentives seem to be there. I'd just be skeptical of any business, but maybe I'm too cynical.
It’s hard to get into anyone’s head and know their true motivation, but inauthentic behavior is always revealed. I wanted my team to be diverse because I knew we’d be better. I didn’t want people to think my team was diverse so they’d come work for me only to find out I didn’t walk the talk.

COSCO has been reaping the benefits. I quit Target and signed up for COSCO. Not liking COSCO but it is the least I can do. I feel good doing something on principle.

Everyone I know has increased their shopping at Costco. It’s a great company. And with a recession coming, we will all stop shopping, except for basic needs, at Costco.
What ever happened to... conservatives Laissez-faire or to "allow to do" or "let people do as they choose". Laissez-faire economics advocate for minimal government interference in the economy, allowing market forces to operate naturally.
Costco may have continued with equitable hiring practices, which is extremely important-but let's not praise them too much-they're also union busters. That story about raising wages-it was just for the stores that aren't trying to unionize-those stores don't get the raise.

When I found out about the way Costco is standing their ground with their DEI policies I was more than happy to upgrade my membership. The only store I hype up more than Costco is HEB, and both are worth the hype in my eyes.
