he joined as a DNC functionary via a position he was voted into, used it as a platform to push for reform in the party, and they used a loophole to push him out. the party is useless, vestigial & cannot be fixed.

I don’t know if it can or can not be fixed-not that invested in the party as a whole. But from the outside it sure seems money is the problem. Nothing new historically, as always, follow the money.
