That he calls what universities do now "thought control" is enough to know that he isn't worth listening to. Academia isn't a monolith. In any institution of higher education, you can find dozens of different opinions on any given topic. He probably just means that they all agree that he's an idiot.

Put simply. In the 1960's part of the cultural revolution involved removing aging backwards reactionaries from important positions in media and academia who did not want to pass the torch to the younger generation. Fast forward to 2025 and that problem has returned with gusto.
