the last time i thought about my SAT score was when i got my UVA acceptance letter
the last time i thought about my SAT score was when i got my UVA acceptance letter
One of my hall mates during first year asked me and my friend our scores and GPA and I thought he was the most pathetic loser for caring about even though we ended up in the same place. Anyone who cares about that once they’re accepted needs therapy.
Wahoowa!
UVA - my how the mighty have fallen (or caved).
No love for the ACT here? Coastal elites! 🤣
People that think about their grades or GPA post-college are so weird to me
I went for my BA in my late 30’s. The college had a joint degree program with a distance learning university. I stayed in my small college and devised a degree to my liking rather than the bog standard degree. It was glorious. One of the best things I ever did for myself.
You know Chris Rufo thinks about his SAT score at least once a day.
probably keeps it right next to his calipers and brain pan scores
He probably has his scores tattooed on his calf
Its a post it note on his mirror that he stares at while he brushes his teeth.
😂😂 he reads it to himself as a positive affirmation every morning
Fun fact. If you go to community college for a couple years and save money you can transfer to a university with out taking the SAT. 👍
Fun fact. Where you go for your undergraduate degree doesn’t matter a hoot. Go to the smaller school where there is a good ratio of teachers to students. Smaller class sizes. Learn, grow and get good grades and open doors for your choice for grad school.
one of my older brothers did a post-bac year for pre-med and got into medical school without taking the MCATs. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE
I got a post-bac too. Because I wanted a Science degree and learning is my happy place. I got to do amazing things later in life when I thought there wasn’t much more to do.
Many, many excellent and prestigious universities are test-optional or don’t accept standardized tests.
I only took the ACT before going to a four year college...
Somebody made the mistake of telling me about the community college loophole before the SATs. Heard that and went see ya later suckers to all the stress.
In NC (at least this was the thing back when I was 15) if you were still of high school age, you could go to a community or technical college for next to nothing. I was fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of this.
I have two friends that did this and went on to have prestigious degrees and careers. There’s so much elitism with university choice, it really is a modern caste system
Well when parents think having unrealistic expectations for their kids will advance them in life it becomes a zero sum game of do it this way or it’s not good enough. I think that is an important to keep in mind too.
I do want to kill culture of college at 18 and finishing in 4 consecutive years. People should be able to go when they can and take as much time as they need to finish with out judgement.
College was seen as a hallmark of success for so long that when it became "affordable" (using the term very loosely) for the majority, it became something you "had to do."
Exactly what I did.
Yep, it’s all about your grades in community college. My alma mater liked that I was super involved in activities. You just have to make sure credits transfer. If I recall correctly, in Illinois, all community college credits transfer to Illinois public state universities.
Yeah, best thing to do is pick a few Universities you would want to transfer to and talk to their admissions to be sure. Then take classes that cost less and you won’t pay attention to anyways. I loved community college. I took everything I could. Even dance classes where I got in great shape 😂
Is that true?
It was for me 🤷♀️
Wow. That's incredible.
Yeah, this is a thing that breaks my heart for kids now a days. SATs are not the end. If they fail them or skip them for whatever reason, they still have a path to higher education that is just as rewarding and amazing. There is away to cut a path for yourself that can work for you.
Pretty much! www.vccs.edu/transfer-pro...
This will be my son’s path. That test can screw off.
I try not to think about mine
i got a 1590 and i honestly don’t even know why i even remember since the last time it was relevant to my life was 1998
the ap exams did far more for me in terms of college credit/testing out of core requirements than the sat did anyway lol
Last time I thought about my SAT scores was in the late 1900's
The last adult I knew in my life who still talked about SAT scores was insufferable and I stopped being friends with them.
The turn of the century
They really love jerking themselves off over numbers they think quantify their intelligence.
gun to my head not only could I not tell you mine, I couldn't even tell you what scale it's measured on
The last time I thought about my SAT score I was 17 years old. That was a LONG time ago.
Like we have enough dumb shit to deal with already WTF on the SATs man
This whole week long episode is "BUT HE DID NOT SHOW AS MUCH PROMISE AS I DID BEFORE I HAD TO DEAL WITH THE REAL WORLD AND MY PARENTS ARE RICH JUST LIKE HIS"
Yup, even for grad school nobody cared
Go Hoos!!
I got a 1250, back in the dark ages. 750 on verbal, 500 on math. I suck at math lol. My guidance counselor said it looked like 2 different people took the test.
I never thought about my SAT score because I never took it. Pssh fancy schools.
I've never thought about an SAT score b/c by age 17, I was on my own. Had survival in mind, not college entrance exams. Got a BS in Business Mgmt from a community college when I was 40 & went on to contract for Harvard Business Publishing b/c on paper I looked like I belonged. But I did not belong.
The kind of people who care about & reference their SAT score can get curb stomped for all I care.
Imagine not understanding how percentiles work and then belittling someone else’s SAT score
YIL that the max SAT score is 2400 now? I mean, I have kids that just went to college, when did that happen?! #old
The 2400 point SAT was in place from 2005 to 2016. Its been back to the 1600 point scale for the last 9 years.
Went on admissions tour at a prestigious university. GPA and test scores (optional) were discussed. When rep said they weren’t guiding factors, parents’ heads started to explode. Too many variables for reliability. Make sure your essay is well written though, regardless the banality of topic.
I don't even know my GRE, and that was much more recent.
The only reason I know part of my SAT score is because I was 10 points away from a scholarship cutoff. GRE scores are long gone
My GRE was above the grad school cutoff. That's all I know. I remember the MAT was 98th percentile, and I was like "huh." In that case it truly didn't matter. No scholarships. Wouldn't keep me from admission unless I really bombed it. Figures. 😄
Lol nice! Mine were ok I think but nothing special? I also took them during a really bad air pollution day in SF so I had a migraine 😐 probably for the better I stopped at a master's, though
I was trying to remember mine… definitely over 1200…. high enough to get into the college I wanted but I think grades in advanced courses probably did more along with my portfolio. I really don’t remember the exact number after all these years.
I remember panicking at forgetting, because we had to fill out job applications during and after college and like ninety percent of them asked you what your SAT score was. But lucky us, the economy crashed almost immediately after that, so everyone stopped caring 🙃
The best part of getting my SAT score was the mean girl going around comparing her score to others and gloating — except when she got to me, I didn’t answer her fast enough and she ripped my paper out of my hands, said “oh shit” and gave it back. Don’t know what she was…
…bragging about, I did pretty good not great But these tests also don’t mean that much. What they measure isn’t necessarily a good measure of the student
Oh good lord what discourse did I miss
Rufo thinks anyone gives a damn about Mamdani's SATs.
Everything I learn about Chris Rufo is by accident and against my will (but thank you for explaining)
He was on my radar from his work making things worse for the homeless in Seattle. He's pretty much always sucked.
Yeah that tracks
Never even took the SAT because I was considered a loser...
I remember being super excited about my SAT score and it eventually enabled me to get into my dream school. But today, decades later, I cannot for the life of me remember what my scores were.
I’ve had to send it to a couple grad schools, twice, so I had to set up a new password for the account and everything each time.
What is an SAT score?
It's a standardized test used in the United States by universities as part of the method of determining admission of students.
funny that someone's SAT scores and university grades are sealed and guarded like they are Epstein files....
trump’s GPA and SAT scores are in the Epstein files. That’s why they can’t be released.
My SAT memory is of a well known (and tad bit notorious) American mid range runner who sat behind me at our SATs & needed help figuring out where to put her name.
Now you will have to endure us all posting out SAT scores.
decent odds that chris rufo has a tattoo of his SAT score
870/1600 type chump
This gave me a chuckle
That 666 tattoo might not be his SAT score…
One on each set of knuckles, since he probably took it twice.
Not as likely as him having an SS tattoo
The thing about believing in a natural, immutable hierarchy of humans is you sure seem to need to constantly remind people to respect it and not attempt to transcend it
Rufo is truly a leech; living off famous poc. He went to Harvard Extension; and now that chip on his shoulder is getting heavier by the day🙄 Toni Morrison said it well, What are you Rufo without racism? nothing. www.youtube.com/shorts/NYQZE...
Could you imagine if someone leaked Clarence Thomas's admissions file. Or Trump's transfer application to Penn. Or Jared's application to Harvard?
I see people posting about Chris Rufo all the time and I still don't know who they are! And no, I ain't doing any research to find out!
The only school metrics I remember are magna cum laude for my BA and summa cum laude for my MS. Can't tell you what I got on my SAT, AP, or GRE exams.
Far more likely he has the 14 words tattooed across his chest
Maybe a tattoo of the SAT score he wishes he’d gotten
And it's not as big as he thinks
it's right next to his IQ score, no doubt and his testosterone count
Honestly, the 1488 joke was solid. FR tho it’s like, 1230. You know, good but not so outstanding he couldn’t get rejected from an elite school or get outscored by someone he deems “lesser.”
Four knuckles but only three digits. What a conundrum.
that's what he'll argue when his 1488 tattoo gets exposed
In Roman numerals
I hope mentioning the NYT de-facto assignment editor by name will not get you in trouble for violating the social media policy
I don't think you can actually get a 1488 on the SAT, but that is what he insisted.
All my insurmountable score has bought me is a certain degree of authority to say that SAT scores do and should mean, to quote Agent K, precisely dick.
Same. Thank you!
666?
Looks like the average SAT score at Georgetown in 2003 was 1430 which is like exactly the implied score mamdani would have gotten on a 1600 scale. It's Rufo himself merely average by his own standard? Lol
He scored 1488?
Butt where?
That and a swastika
Is it even possible to have 1488 as an SAT score?
Probably depends on what year you took it. From 2005 to 2016 it was a 2400 point scale.
I was wondering what that random thought was about. lol
Should be an easy tat to get, since it's probably only two digits.
Only if it was 1488
Well played sir.
Yikes, that’s pretty much my actual SAT score. 😬
1460 here.
I was ACT 34, because I was in the score range where it easier to "game" an extra 1-2 points on the ACT than it was to gain the equivalent amount of SAT points (about 100). Would have gotten a 35 except the curve for science was WACK (got a 33/36 on it, but I got 38/40 questions right).
855 is such a lame tattoo.
And that number is below 1000
+10%. No way he doesn’t inflate his results.
Depends on what his score was I think.
Probably still holds a grudge against people from high school who outscored him too.
Only the non white ones
If he can’t tell percentile from percentage how good can his score be?
And what was Trump's SAT score? Oh, right, we don't know.
There's no way he got eight points higher on the SAT's than I did. (I got a 1480.)
They change the scoring system with moderate frequency. Comparing across these divides is a mug's game.
I know they moved from out of 1600 to out of 2400 and then back at some point. I can definitely believe he got just under 1500/2400, as opposed to out of 1600 when I took it. Rufo is not very smart.
SAT effectively measure skill at taking the SAT. Students trained to take the SAT score higher than those that don't train. This is the basis for the entire SAT prep industry. The reason that Universities stopped using them is because they no longer correlated to success in completing the first year
(Also, you may want to refer to the existence of a meme of the *exact* number I referenced but refuse to type out. It's coming up again and again in comments here for a reason.)
I have spent 30 of my 60 years as a student in one way or another and the one thing I have learned is how to be a good student and how to do well on an assessment. It's not the same as being smart.
Better odds that his tattoo is a lie.
It was a 1480. So, only 8 digits away from his other tattoo.
1488
Wait, that’s something else
I think that’s certainly what he tells most people the 1488 on his back mean
Tbh he seems like the kind of guy who’d rather tattoo numbers on other people
Srsly!
Someone get this man $1,000.
Fuck ! 😳
Probably not that high, actually, given his palpable confusion as to the distribution of SAT scores. Rufo is brazen enough to jeer at someone whose scores were higher than his own.
He keeps all the rejection letters he received from the Ivy League, and he rereads all of them once a week.
Chris Rufo has a tattoo of his skull measurements
600 on each bicep
Ladies I call them math and verbal
Never trust someone who knows their IQ score. Run from anyone who tells you theirs.
I was a transfer student. Most of the folks I still talk to from college were also transfer students. We didn't have to take the SAT. It barely exists to me. So this whole thing is extra weird to me. Like all these people are mad about a pretend thing
And if you live in NYC with a very high SAT score one may call you a dweeb with no life. Just sayin'
💕
I had to have a score to finish an admission process, signed up a week ahead of a testing time and took it cold, finished the admission and got accepted. Didn’t think about it after that. Crazy but true: no prospective job or opportunity has ever asked about it.
and me from U MD neighbor.
I got my best SAT score by not studying and dropping acid the day before the test. Almost got a perfect score in one category and did pretty well on the rest. Absolutely meaningless test.
Imagine one of your most “esteemed” achievements being a test score you got in HIGH SCHOOL! 😆 It’s peak loser behavior 😂😂😂
Well. It’s settled. Chris Rufo has convinced me that the SAT scores and admissions applications of politicians matter. So let’s see DJT senior and junior. Also, Bondi, Patel, etc
Oh yes, I likey!
Hey, fellow alum! Wahoowa!
And not a soul asks you about it. I’m I right?
Publishing SAT scores for a 33 yo is very Shaadi.com
Mostly the same - until my daughter is starting to take these tests and wanting to do better than her mother and I
I think about it occasionally, mostly because I took it as a sophomore and senior, and can't remember what I scored the first time anymore. 🤷🏻 It fell into one of the holes in my head.
The only thing I remember about mine is that it was impossible to compare with other years because it was during the brief time that writing was a whole separate section and the max score was raised to 2400
I got into a state school automatically cus of my class ranking in high school. I had to take the SAT, but the score didn't matter. I have no idea what I got. Lmao
I have been offline. Please tell me we are not actually debating a mayoral candidate’s SAT score. There has to be a limit to the stupid. Please.
There won't be an end to the stupid until November. The minutiae of Mr Mamdani's life will be dissected and explored until then.
God he had better fucking win. The kids in NYC had better not fuck this one up. He is the only thing giving me any hope right now
Imagine if he was a woman
I don’t even remember my SAT scores
And the scale changed since I was tutoring for them in the early 00s
It's changed back now.
The first time I took it, I was in the nerdy group of kids they had take it in 7th grade. I just remember because the high schoolers looked at us like we were freaks and one person git a perfect score and got whisked off to college and another person in our group was so jealous, they could spit.
I have committed to underachieving.
I only think about it knowing the score was terrible, it only got me into a minor state school, and I ended up doing exactly what I wanted anyway.
I don’t even remember taking mine.
The University of Virginia is a good school. And I say this as a child of Hokies!💙❤️🍁
👍
Do you know people who still tell you what their SAT scores are??? So confusing!!!! I’m 70!!!! That’s my age not my SAT score… 😏
We swapped to using the ACT in the 90's to completely kill that behavior. I would die of embarrassment if I tried to bring up my ACT score for any reason other than to crack a joke
My husband and I still compare paper grades from a mutual class we took, but who cares about test scores?
Oh sheesh what’s this about? Off to look….(I took the SAT in 7th grade. It was the ACT that was our college entrance exam)
You’re so evolved! I’ll just leave it at that. (It was decades ago and I’m still mad about my English score.)
I never took the SAT.
Same.
Man, if someone asked me about my SAT scores at this point in my life…? I’d be dead from laughter.
I never think about my score, but I think about the test once in awhile because I still have a scar on my left index finger I got cutting myself opening a Heineken with a pen knife before the test. I turned in my score sheet with blood stains all over it.
I just remember doing better, percentile-wise, on the ACT. I was also a shithead in high school and the grades showed. Yet, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's. Tldr, who cares what I did at 17?
Careful you might upset your legacy admit coworkers and they'll "determine you violated the NYT social media policy" again!
I only took ACT before college I think it was a long time ago with little relevance to my present life
Mine happened so long ago it was in Roman numerals.
Cuneiform here.
I don’t even remember what I got on my SATs. All I remember was I was sick as a dog and in the bathroom every break.
Everything is a step to the next thing in education. Once you have moved on and got the next thing, the previous thing largely becomes irrelevant (eg you got your undergraduate degree, the SAT is irrelevant, you got your graduate degree then the undergraduate degree becomes irrelevant and so on).
When I applied to Amazon in 1996, they asked. They asked because they asked everyone (to avoid discrimination lawsuits) but they really just wanted to know recent graduates’ scores.
I’ve never applied to Amazon. They’ve expressed interest and on their own started doing backchannel on me. One such ‘isn’t she kind of fierce?’ inspired my then ex husband now rehusband Paul Boutin to write and record the song open.spotify.com/track/5bfplX... Thanks Amazon for your norm breaking!
Have you been in my home a number of years ago??
possibly - Paul is our common connection
I think about my scores every year, but that's because when I proctor the test, my students ask me what I got.
What year were you? I graduated in 1981 after a year off. And I was trying to remember mine. I can't but in the "olden days," max was 1600.
I've mentioned it before but Mamdani went 1-5 in his high school debate competitions, a 16% win rate well below average for Columbia students. Rufo, @me plz
Most applicants to Columbia probably never participated in high school debate competitions. Personally, I am more impressed by people that compete and lose but don’t give up than those who run away from competing the moment they can’t win. Could explain how Mamdani won the primary.
It's nice that he didn't peak at 18 as so many do.
I'm out of the loop, did a certain COMMUNIST MAYORAL CANDIDATE super-score his scores without telling or something?
SAT never meant that much to me; it was the ACT that counted (and what got me a Michigan scholarship).
At which point you quothe “Nevermore.”
this but i taught with a guy who had a letterman jacket made emblazoned with his sat score on the back in order to “inspire” students obviously cringe if it was a 1600, but it was like a 1580.. which somehow made it worse
I’m not even sure what mine was. Good enough, I guess.
I cannot tell you my SAT score - all I remember is my guidance counselor telling me that given my high ACT score she was surprised how poorly I did lol. This was the early 90s though and I did not have any ivys in sight.
The ACT is a bit more practical for students that may not have had the higher maths courses that the SAT tests for.
License, registration, SAT score🫴
Numbers only matter for the context in which it is relevant. We can talk about how much Zohran won by or we can talk strategy for the future. Only one is imp right now.
Idek what I scored. It was "high average" which wasn't impressive when my senior class of 86 kids had a handful of kids w/ perfect scores. I hated all the pressure then to apply and choose "the right" school and the best major etc and said f this, applied to culinary school at JWU 😆
They didn't even require a signature, test scores, anything to apply, like, I didn't tell anyone NOT EVEN MY PARENTS until I got accepted Am I almost 43 and in school now for my bachelor's? I meannnn, yeah. But did the test scores ever really matter? No. Am I sure now abt wtf I'm doing? Mostly. 🤣
I never took the SATs. Didn't need to
Since clownshoes and I took the SAT the format has changed drastically at least 4 times and now is shorter than ever and fully digital…all due to market share. ACT was eating the College Board’s lunch, so they modified their PRODUCT. The only thing the SAT ever measured is how well you take a test.
SAT…yeah, that. Like I give a fuck about that, now…
The last time I thought about mine was when my daughter scored 300 points higher than me and made National Merit Scholar. I can't even remember my exact score anymore.
“Good enough to give you a scholarship” were the last words I ever heard in regards to my SATs
How to say “I got a 1480 on my SATs” without saying “I got a 1480 on my SATs.”
