wow, i am up to 36
wow, i am up to 36
24!
Huh, only 18 for me
21. A few more if you count airport stops.
37
23
25
35
29
Damn, only 5 for me.
Yeah me, 36 too!
30
21
15
46
38 (actually visited and spend time in, mostly for work)
41
21☺️
39
Wow! 21. I kinda miss the traveling days of an old job. Kinda.
29, I need to elevate my game
All of ‘em. Boom!
37
I have slept in 34 of these and passed through all the others except Honolulu.
Me too!
16.
Only 17
Have *landed* a plane in 48 states. Just saying... (You can guess what the other 2 are.)
But have you been to 48 of those cities? (I’m at a mere 21.)
22 if we count your last name?
Yup, have spent actual time in all 50 states. (51 including my DC home.)
I'm missing just ND and SC ... SC seems far more likely
The graphic was about cities, not states. You’ve been to all 50? Ft. Worth and Jacksonville?
I have been to all those cities. Have in fact landed a plane in all, except Honolulu.
2/ Also not at DCA. But Dulles!
Even the St. Paul Downtown Airport?
I was gonna say, he’s an avgeek! (I’m only at 41 though, so still impressed!)
36
Jacksonville is on my 26, it's not an uncommon place to visit or pass through for a lot of people on a range of career paths, at least a decade ago. Probably the nicest and most generous hospitality at a restaurant I've ever experienced where I wasn't a regular was in Jacksonville.
I’m at 44 and I can’t fly a plane just saying James!
Me too. Only been to 48 state capitols, though. Have visited 49 of these.
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Dad was Navy Air so he was able to cover those. I went with him when he took the opportunity to tag North Dakota for his 50th, and that remains a little gem of a memory.
Is River Visual 19 approach at DCA bucket list or unattainable so why bother
Astute question! (No surprise.) When I was training at KGAI, we could fly down the Potomac, to the DCA VOR, tracking River Visual. Then over the Anacostia, and back out again. But never actually landed at KDCA. That was before TSA, SFRA, etc. Another world.
44. No planes. Some hydroplaning.
35
Unsure of any, uh, authority behind this but sounds fair to me. bsky.app/profile/95sp...
26, btw
Agreed! An airport layover doesn’t count!
How are they ranking those cities? It’s not by size.
28 not counting airport stops. Never been to Florida or New England or Pennsylvania which cuts out a lot.
29!
42, quite a fortuitous number
45, but maybe 46.
Lucky 13! Do layovers count? Maybe only if you leave the airport?
I just realized I’ve been to more cities in Europe than the US and that was in a two month period versus 40 plus years in the US. Are we counting cities that we’ve just driven through? Because that’ll get me into double digits if so.
19
Progressive dick-measuring by miles travelled always amazes, given the dire crisis we’re in and the fossil-fuel intensiveness of travel.
25
38. I can't count Vegas, where I merely had an airport layover But because they let the casinos run slot machines in the airport terminals unimpeded, and because the airport gates are within eyeshot of downtown, it definitely felt like I was there. Certainly my wallet thought so
33
Solid seven. That is where it will stay forever going forward.
12. And not likely to break 20 the way this country is going.
28 for me
17, been to more but genuinely stayed for days in 17. Lived in 10 of them for a year or more. Ain’t no moss growing on this rolling stone.
I’ve lived in six for a year or more, all between the ages of 23 and 33. I’m much more boring now.
It’s called settling down. Nothing wrong with that.
42
23
At least 24…a few I may have been to as a kid.
46
Damn. Just 35.
I'm at 38. I should get to Detroit one of these days. But I have been to all 50 states.
41! (Many of them on somebody else's nickel.)
40.
Avoiding Florida sets me back some.
You're not missing much...except a heat index of 109.
Same with me and Texas. And no, Jacksonville has never seen me, nor me it.
33 I think.
43 and in shock
23
34.
32 if we’re following the “rules,” but we’re Highpointers, so, lots of road trips. -overnight or a visit long enough to pee / have a meal / spend $50 -airports don’t count
24
23 here
20 for me
I'm 31, that's way more than I thought at first glance lol
Been to 22. Lived in 0.
Damn! I’m at 26. Nice!
I’ve been to all of them. If I limit myself to places I’ve spent a full night it’s still ~46.
45. I was in services for a global software company for 8 years which is why it's more than 20....
40 for me, two cross-country trips in my 20’s and visiting family as a kid.
18
Does it count if it was just the airport 😭 Also I’m Canadian and only really started travelling in my 30s so I didn’t expect to break ten…
24
49
28
41, not bad
44.
17 so far
okay multiple of these are in the same metro
Saint Paul and Minneapolis feels like cheating. (Oakland, San Jose and SF? Totally different places.)
Flew into Oakland, but didn't actually tour there. Stayed with family east of there. But saw a ballgame and went to a couple of museums in SF. Seems wrong to say you've been somewhere if it was just a ride to/from the airport.
Very good point. If the Bay Area were governed by New York State, SF, Oakland, and San Jose would be boroughs of one city
Not even.
Oakland is it's own planet that sometimes includes Emeryville, Berkeley, and Alameda. Vallejo and Richmond are twin cities. San Francisco is everything else from Palo Alto and Hayward north to Benicia. San Jose is less interesting LA
1/3 East Bay encompasses pretty much everything north of Fremont to the south end of the Richmond/San Rafael bridge. The north & east border towns of the East Bay are Vallejo, Fairfield, Antioch, Brentwood, and Livermore. It encompasses a large geo area including Mt. Diablo. The South Bay . . .
2/3 …(Silicon Valley/SanJose) includes Fremont to the northeast, Palo Alto to the northwest, Los Gatos to the southwest & Morgan Hill/Gilroy to the south/southeast. San Francisco/Peninsula is San Francisco proper at the north end, Half Moon Bay on the south coast east to Redwood City on the west…
3/3 …west shore of the Bay. North Bay is north side of the Golden Gate Bridge to Petaluma. Wine Country is Napa & Sonoma to the south, Hopland to the north, Healdsberg, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, St Helena, etc., in between. Hope that helps. It will make sense when you look at the map.
You forgot to mention Martinez!
Martinez is inside the East Bay border, as is Benicia.
Looking hard at the Dallas \ Fort Worth metroplex.
I’ve been to Minneapolis several times but not Saint Paul.
40
42
27
42 here!
32
43
dang, 32
43
40, with plans already in place for two more this fall.
29
I lived in 8 of them, so not exactly like visiting them on a fun vacay.
I only lived in one, and lived near several of them.
41! Traveling for work a few jobs ago helped
24!
19
32 looks like I have places to go!
37 of those cities. Been to all 50 states completing marathons.
36 as well
You have to have stopped inside the city limits and gone number 1, right? It’s a rule, I swear 🤦♂️
I that case, about 5 for me.
all these numbers represent piss breaks nooooooo lol
I’ve been to 47 states, but Alabama was just a detour to the first rest stop, where we took a dump and left. I figured that was enough. I understand Birmingham has a lot to offer? But I don’t actually like visiting cities, and I don’t like heat or humidity.
I hear ya! I used to haul reefer freight for FFE & KLLM back in the day
Nice! I just like to road trip, hike, and camp. I look forward to our surly teens moving out, then we’ll get back to that and finally see Vermont. And Louisiana and Mississippi, briefly. 😉
44!
40 for me
19
All but 3.
I'm at 36 as well.
31
31 for me
I thought I was doing well with 17. Couple of notable omissions that I intend to fix, but I didn't think that was that shabby. But I have been shamed.
41 , but magazine publishers travel a lot (shows, conferences, client meetings, etc).
There are three omissions I'd like to get to led by New Orleans, Portland and Denver, probably in that order. After that, que sera, sera. Let the chips fall where they may.
21 for me. I need to get out more.
1
38
41.
Wow!
I worked for the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (state bank regulators) for all of the 1990s and got to most of the states. I'm still missing six: the Dakotas, Montana, Oregon (weirdly) and Alaska.
38 for me, but I’ve driven through or changed planes in some of the others & been to all 50 states
39
31
44.
25, including 3 that I’ve lived in
37
I’m at 25!!
13, to my surprise.
Can I count the one I live in?
just one for me but I live in Australia and am poor lol
Canadian here and I'm up to 22.
23, but I spent a decade overseas, so spent some prime traveling time elsewhere.
All 50.
40
been to all but 3. Need to visit Oklahoma and El Paso.
Since when dies anybody need to visit OK? 🤣 (Tulsa was dull, OK City much better).
drove through part of OK once. Count it as one of my 48 states (still have Alaska and N. Dakota to go).
Bob Dylan Center is in Tulsa 👍
46
21
ooooooo THIS IS FUN!!!! I've circled the ones I haven't been to.
The more I travel, the more I like to stay home, ha ha.
34, but 4 more if counting plane transfers and transit.
Just 27 for me.
Zero - fortunately !
Wow... Definitely cool to look at this written down.... I'm only missing one!!!! I've been to every one of these cities except Honolulu, unfortunately!
Okay, that Dallas skyline is INTENTIONALLY INFURIATING. Where's Reunion Tower?
37
51. Missing the home of the Chihuahuas
10 so far
41!
38
42 I get around
17 if only including those with overnight stays. Goodness- a few of them multiple times. Then thinking of cities that didn't make the list, and foreign places and I feel fairly well traveled! Cool.
27
I'm a Canadian, and I too have visited 14 of these cities. Now, though, you could not pay me enough to visit the USA.
28 not too bad
Eighteen seems like a lot for me, a person that doesn't travel that much.
Ditto. 19 and the prospect for more is slim. Surprised Orlando isn’t on the list but Tulsa is.
I’ve been to Tulsa, you’re not missing much. At least it’s not Lawton. I was born in OK. Entire place is a shithole, no offense Okies.
19 here!
16
16
44. And I hadn't thought of myself as particularly well-traveled (although I did hitchhike in 46 states between ages 16 and 22).
36 for me too
8
35
38
33
33
Been to, or just outside of 10.
43, but I only drove through three of those. The rest I’ve spent time in
34
17
40, and I didn’t count all the planes that landed in St. Louis, either!
38
21 🙂
23. More if you include airports, which I don't.
37 here. Mostly business travel.
22, not counting airport only cities.
12, assuming "visited" doesn't mean "drove through" or "had a layover at." Number one on my list of must-dos is Pittsburgh, I find it intriguing (I like old hilly cities).
27
Like 35
Do airports count?
32
46. But I’m old so basically I cheated
Lived in 9. Visited another 21. Not counting layovers, conferences, etc.
13.
I think maybe 23 at a cursory glance
30 here
42, blame academic conferences.
45 and counting.
34
29
39
Are these the biggest cities?
9, but none for quite some time.
9 for me
wow, I've been to 17 and I don't travel that much
39
Basically all but I had a pretty important traveling job in the 70s-early 2000s so
14
15 but only because I lived in half of them.
29
I got 19
You've got me by one. I've got 18.
16
21
32 for me.
About 20.
39🙌🏻!
All except Jacksonville and Honolulu
That's serious. I only have 21.
22!
Depends on what constitutes a visit. Stayed overnight? Passed through but stopped for something? Just entered city limits? Anyway, I'm certainly high 30s. I'd say 39.
22!
Two, Chicago and San Francisco... by train!
I’ve been to them all.
37
I've got 29 so far. Haven't been many places out west.
