anyway this entire thing screams stephen miller and like everything he does, it does not seem as if he's thought past the initial provocation.

Stephen Miller’s entire theory of government is based on skimming the first half of the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich
Trump and Miller do have long range as well as short term goals. They're hoping their draconian actions spur protests, which they hope will have car-burnings and other visuals of violence, which they can use as a justification for imposition of martial law and the cancellation of 2026 elections.
Of course he hasn’t
Do you think he’s ever watched the video of Ceaușescu and thought that could happen to him and to Trump? If a DHS arrest goes sideways on camera…
Right? And while we're at it, someone tell Stephen Miller what happened to Beria. I'd argue that there has been lateral movement of quite a few DHS arrests, some caught on camera. After the horrific Jacksonville Sheriff Dept assault ended in "no criminality" I just don't know if that will help.
Weren’t the Ceaușrescus executed less than two days after the revolution?
On Christmas day, 3 days after they attempted to flee, Ceausescu and his wife were tried and executed. They were buried in their bullet ridden clothing.
100's of guys in flak jackets & helmets, walking around with long guns, pumping up their boogieman mindset ("watch out! that guy has an sub-sandwich!")("with yellow cheese!") and what could possibly go wrong? 🙄
A man has got to know his limitations....
I think he has and he wants it.
He's not that smart. He's just bigoted
Alt text for the image in the previous post: A photo of three individuals in military fatigues with the text, "Claim: The National Guard is being deployed to crack down on crime. False: The National Guard is being deployed to give Stephen Miller an erection."
Two things - 1. This is true 2. Is referencing Stephen Miller and...that...an obsenity
FFS those were my good face eyes
Can I borrow that?
Step 1: call in troops Step 2: ??? Step 3: Eternal Herrenvolk Reich
People really do assume Miller is some 5d chessmaster just because he's managed to successfully Wormtongue the dumbest president in American history.
So which DC native hurt little Stephen's fees fees?
Just read the WPost below-the-fold In a quick glance as I brought the paper in that US-born citizens are not taking empty migrant jobs. That’s another thing maybe that could have been thought through. I know! Let’s get humanoid androids to terra farm on Mars! That’ll be great!
I don’t understand why other states are sending their Guard. Who is requesting it? What authority are they using and what is the rationale? They are uprooting their people and it ain’t cheap. There has to be some explanation. DC is no different today than it was two weeks ago before this escalation.
Governors trying to look tough and loyal?
Yep. Request by miller and homan
Sure but it’s expensive and bad for morale (recruitment) and I’d think the TAGs would recommend against it because even the need for our own Guard has been debunked.
It's an emergency rationale, right? Like in Ohio, maybe dewine is hoping to head off troops in our big 3 C blue cities. Or he is hoping for it, to even more completely take over the state. He's been juggling being a rino himself with maga legislators, so no one is a fan of him & it's his last term.
Trump or someone in his circle says jump and they jump. Trump got OBBB over the line by signing hats for members of congress. It’s a circus
A rehearsal
A very desperate scramble to get security forces in the capital as his popularity plummets, his coalition breaks, and the VA election is on the horizon?
Really? Seems like it's working step-by-step, next step is to declare, under threat of those soldiers, that all elections will be held under supervision of ICE. We are ticking closer to midnight on the American Authoritarian Clock
Hoping that Steven Miller is first up in the post- Trump Nuremberg Trials
Which is very good news, actually.
the good news always seems incompetence related. which isn't in itself good news, necessarily.
So true. But insofar as I hold onto my self-identification as “competent” (and know that word describes all my favorite people), I have hopes.
👍
I cannot decide if they want to instigate violence or are simply pushing every button and pulling every lever to "control the narrative."
I think they want to instigate violence so that they can declare martial law.
It didn't happen at his stupid parade so he's trying again
The initial provocation is his jam
From your mouth to God’s ear
Yes I hope this finally goes real bad for the perpetrators
The only thing that gives me hope about how evil this administration is their incompetence. Some of them are just dumb and unqualified. Some don’t think for themselves or compromise themselves as sycophants. But other’s incompetence comes in the form of hubris that blinds them to the consequences
of their actions. They think they are omnipotent, but at one point they will make enough people sufficiently miserable and desperate for there to be enough resistance to stop them. This is incompetence because they can’t help themselves, they think misery will make us servile.
But we are a nation of rebels and explorers, risk takers for a better life, or at least our ancestors were. We will rise up when enough self centered people are personally affected enough to say “no more”.
There’s a reason they’re not doing this in Florida.
I hope his trial is televised. It would be incredible to see him slowly stuffed into a locker for the last time.

Whenever he uses a word like “bedlam” I have to assume it’s a Stephen Miller original.
There are 326K total serving in Army National Guard. That's 1 per 1043 of population, so this doesn't scale up far even if they mobilized 100%. And recruitment and re-enlistment are going to tank hard with this abuse. It's all for the cameras and the news stories.
It's also terrible for military readiness - in a real war those NG troops have important jobs to do, and they need to be trained and ready for them, which isn't happening while they're standing around pointlessly in LA and DC.
It may be play acting but I have no doubt Miller has thought this through and when things get ugly, Rump will push him aside and use them.
WWND. (What would Nazis do?)
Because he thinks that he wins either way. If people quietly accept it, he wins. And if people protest, they get an excuse for a crackdown and he wins too. So my question is: what’s the third option he hasn’t imagined?
What we’re seeing right now, I think. They crack down, regular people protest, they’re hated more each day but nothing is really settled, eventually they move on.
TACO.
They don’t even really crack down and then slope off.
Nonviolent protest is actually a winner here. Either they look weak and pathetic as they stand around getting insulted by justifiably angry moms, or they look like jackbooted thugs if they violently suppress the protest. It puts them in a lose-lose position.
the wrong secret service agent gets put on his detail and puts two behind his ear
And then we get martial law for real and JD Vance occupying the Oval Office. I don’t think that’s much of an improvement.
Vance has room behind his ears too
Yes but please don’t absolve Trump of responsibility… he gives the orders. He can choose not to. So it’s Trump!
It does, but in some ways seems like Miller channels the essence of Trump
the reason miller is the rat that stayed on the ship the longest and is now the quasi president of the USA is because he best embodies trump’s lifelong commitments to racism that stayed consistent through his other careers and party affiliations
He's still trying to figure out the formula that nets him respect and fear from the masses.
Nazi playbook read by a spoiled nerd.
His plan IS the provocation though, right? Get one person, especially a person of color, to do something stupid and they can use their propaganda machine and servile msm journalists to blast the incident everywhere to justify their actions.
Also reeks of bannon- trying to provoke a response so they can heighten the militarism.
Maybe we can finally get some single payer health care and bullet trains out of this mess.
I’ve said that if we survive this as a country, we’re going to need swing so far the other way to dig out.
Let's start an Anti-Exceptionalist Party. "America Is the World!" Ratifying the Rome Statute will be one crowd-pleasing plank, there's been so much Hagueposting
Ironically, the Hague Invasion Act needs the death penalty.
The apology tour after MAGA will be like Bob Dylan’s endless roadshow.
I’m not planning on forgetting or forgiving.
I just meant a real version of Obama’s Apology Tour. We’re talking hundreds of millions of gift baskets.
Oh, I've got something for that too! We can work the gift baskets in. bsky.app/profile/dell...

Solid negotiating. I think we should aim higher. 3-point plan. -Apolitic DoJ -Get Corruption and dark money out of D.C. and gov't everywhere. -Ranked Choice Voting for both primaries and election day ballots. With that we can get more realistic representation vs the teamball politics that get us 0
If you're wondering why no Gulf Coast states are sending their NG troops, it's because they have to worry about storm surge from Erin. Even though she's probably not coming near land, the surge is enough to cause big problems like Sandy did for New York
Why did South Carolina send the most? They are more likely to have storm surge than the Gulf Coast.
Because South Carolina was the first to secede the last go around
Priorities!
its part of whatever abbot and co were doing under biden too. Multiple red states sent NG to the border to uh I think just sit there and be bored. but it happend.

Bingo !
A pretty important question to ask is "...and then what?" They haven't.
They don’t know what they are doing but they are continually doing things to see if they can figure out HOW to get total control over every single citizen. They are feeling their way and seeing what they can get away with.
Dog catches car
Notice how no one is talking about the Epstein files anymore. Like
No one stops him as he uses our money.
The racist performance artist Miller everyone hates except Donald Trump?
I'm across the country so I'm too far away, but I feel like the right-thinking people of DC should be able to embarrass these people out of town. I know ICE and the "DEA"-labeled chumps are hopeless morons, but I don't think most of the National Guard members want this bullshit assignment.
The thing is, at least wrt National Guard, they can't. If they've been assigned to DC, they have to be in DC, embarrassed or not.
There's always good ol' mutiny
They have weapons and feet that work.
Because they have been federalized, they also face potential liability for going AWOL. And if they use their weapons to rebel against orders, well, they're subject to even harsher criminal liability. So, like, no. They're not going to use their feet or weapons. That would be stupid.
They should, though. Just depose the pretender.
Honestly, I get more than a little twitchy when we start thinking about the military deposing the president. Even if his presidency is constitutionally invalid, I'm having trouble thinking of a time when the military stepping in like that has gone anything other than really badly.
“Never saw no military solution that didn’t end up with something worse”
ICE, otoh, should absolutely refuse to do what they're told to do. Because I can't think of a single reason not to prosecute literally every one of them once we have a new administration. Also, ICE agents can resign in a way that military/National Guard can't. So they have literally no excuse.
I understand and share your apprehension; and yet, it sure feels like military deposition is the best and only off-ramp left.
This situation seems to call for good old malicious compliance and laziness. Follow orders to the letter, and don't lift a finger beyond them
This is probably where I come out: go to DC. Stand around. People watch. Do literally nothing beyond what's absolutely and unequivocally required.
And have some very clear red lines in mind about what you won't do even if ordered
10000000%
I don't blame them, I blame the ICE chuds who signed up for goon work
Hand out copies of the Declaration of Independence to the feds with parts highlighted: "He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
We are absolutely going to have a Kent State or a Tiananmen Square, and then things will get very interesting
It's so hard to explain how it makes me feel that what is happening in targeted cities is a terrible escalation of tactics against the people. I feel like there should be a more general sense of alarm.
I imagine I feel something similar. And there definitely should be more alarm.
I fear he has and is about to get what he seeks: a Kristallnacht on the nation’s capital with Americans at the end of the bayonets of their fellow citizens.
These are probes to see how far they can go without resistance. So far, the answer is very far.
How do you feel this is likely to end?
Our neighbors, aka national guard troops, walk away. Refuse to obey the treasonous orders to aim their weapons at US.
Provocation is the point with Stephen Miller.
He’s like a child pulling wings off flies.
