human nature!
human nature!
Same
Correct answer
Thriller, I loved Vincent Price as a child, I know every line of his in that song perfectly, yes I have issues, growing up in Marina Village BPT, CT and singing the Vincent Price parts at parties during the song, Lmao!
Not a fair question! The whole album is my favorite song, lol
Close, but "The Lady in My Life" is the clear winner.
'Human Nature' yet partial to the Miles Davis version.
"If they say why... Why... Tell them that it's human nature..." Such a great, smooth, jazzy song.
Billie Jean, I'm a sucker for a groovy bass line
That's the 'Quincy Jones Presents Michael Jackson' album. Right?
All of them!
Porcaro recorded the demo while doing the mix for Toto's Africa.
Thriller of course. A grade school my 3 grandsons attended years ago still do an all grade ‘Thriller’ dance at Halloween…that music brings the spirit out in everyone!
Billie Jean
Why? WHY? The correct answer is, of course, Beat It.
I would have to agree. Human Nature for sure.
Human nature, huh? Sounds like @unknown was just getting started. "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" indeed!
Billy Jean
Damn straight.
ditto!!
Damn straight. The John Mayer cover from his funeral might be my favorite musical performance ever.
I love it when he says, "More kick and step in the phones, I need it... more bottom and kick in the phones..." youtu.be/2Hp3P4XOT_U?...
that was a dreamy one
Vijay Iyer trio Jazz arrangement of that song is one of my favorite new standards. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdZw...
Came here to post that! Love it.
PYT!!
“Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”
This is my pick too. Everything about this song slaps.
Agreed !!! Absolutely !!! It set the tone for the entire LP !!! ❤️❤️❤️
+ 1! Definitely influenced groove-wise by Manu Dibango’s all-time banger Soul Makossa, & nicely done.
Jackson had to pay him a million francs.
Oh really? I hadn’t caught that, fair play to M. Dibango.
This. “Wanna Be Startin’ Something” can play for hours in my head (and it often does). And that is a good thing. (I’m surprised more people aren’t choosing “Billie Jean” - it’s the one other track that always, always brings me joy.)
This is the one.
Baby be mine does not get nearly enough love!
Billie Jean, but mostly bc it really makes my friend angry over a funny story from college. The song I rocked out to the most when it came out? Thriller of course! The kids down the street couldn't listen to it bc it was "too scary" according to their mom 🤣🤣🤣
Same here.
"Human nature" and i can't help but to also love "thriller". This was the first album i owned as a kid.
Gotta go with you on this one Jamelle.
Human Nature—hands down. Equally great is Miles Davis' cover with Kenny Garrett—the real Kenny G. youtu.be/sFRvqEFzJA4
📌
If it was good enough for Miles to cover …
Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’
Billie Jean, with PYT a distant second. BJ should be 20 minutes long.
Why? WHY?
SWV’s remix is a banger
this is the correct answer
wanna be startin something
Billie Jean. The way the song builds on that base line like a symphony, it justs get sounds better and better over time.
Wanna be starting something.
certified Yacht Rock
Thriller or Beat It
Written by one of the guys from Toto!!!
PYT - Pretty young thing
“I’m A Pedo” is awesome, but “Raping Young Boys & Paying Off Their Parents” still has that incredible video!
So odd with all the Epstein talk, everyone is ok with MJ still. I guess everyone forgot? Or if you make iconic music it’s ok to sexually abuse kids? So weird.
the intro alone makes it one of my faves of that decade
Sounds so beautiful
Yep, and the outro to match - all that burbling.
Lady in my life
PYT!
tell me why
He likes living this way
Toto + MJ
I think that's Backstreet Boys
i was riffing on "if they say why?" but yeah - "tell me why" definitely pings on a different song!
Mine too.
Beat It.
Human Nature
Definitely!
Still have a soft spot for Beat It. Within 3 notes, you knew who was playing that guitar riff.
Steve Lukather?
He played the main bits, the solo in the middle was Van Halen.
I know. Just wondering if you were talking about Luke’s lead riff or EVH’s solo.
You’ll love this — the demo from Toto’s Pocaro who wrote Human Nature for his daughter being bulied at school youtu.be/Rk7IBcYD_k4
Bass players LOVE human nature. Go on YT, you can probably find 3 dozen solo bass renditions of that tune.
I second that! Great song!
PYT
a man of taste and sensitivity
Why, why?🫣
Agreed!
That entire album still slaps but my pasty white ass still rocks out to Beat It. 🎸🎵🤟
Wanna Be Startin' Something
Probably my favorite MJ song.
ben
Billie Jean followed by the title track. I also enjoy the unabashed cringe of The Doggone Girl is Mine.
I only found out last year that Human Nature was written by a member of Toto, and Toto passed on recording it.
That's a hard album to break down to just one favorite song.
Billie Jean
HARD AGREE!
Yacht Rock (a term I hate, but music I love) is all over this album. Toto was basically the backing band in the studio, sans 1 or 2 dudes. Their story really is an example of good things happening to people showing up to work everyday
Have you seen the Yacht Rock documentary on HBO? It's really interesting.
Yes, took me so long to watch it because of the name, lol. But it’s great, those guys were so passionate about music and also helping other artists make great music. We need more of that in every aspect of life.
We just saw C Cross, Toto and Men at Work. Cross and Colin Hay still sound great. Luke is a bit of a dipshit, but generally in a good way.
And all seven Thriller tracks were released as singles??? Absolutely remarkable.
Human Nature
Yeah my mind turned this into a toss up between this version of human nature, SWV's, and Miles Davis's
I unironically think "If this town is just an apple, then let me take a bite" is one of the greatest lyrics ever.
No love for Billie Jean or the title cut. I’m a Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ proponent.
same!!!
Nothing hits quite like SWV sampling that on Right Here.
SWV version is definitive IMO
If anyone says PYT, I’m sending the feds to your house.
Me too
Damn, i dont how i pick one. Its like a 3way tie between PYT, beat it & billie jean. Really, the entire album slaps hard.
correct
Sound that makes you move. And now all of everything is being erased, by a terrible minority that think they are the majority, with a messed up agenda. We are past polite complaint now. They will take everything we allow them to.
This is the right answer!
I know it's an obvious choice, but...
My favorite MJ song, full stop. 🙌🏼
That’s a good!
Anyone who says "The Girl is Mine" is a fed
Lady in my Life
As a kid, I thought it was meh compared to most of the other tracks. As an adult, it’s far and away my favorite off the album.
Thriller! I remember when this video was released for the first time. People rented big screen TVs so they could watch it. My family was super freaking poor, and we got an invite over to a classmate's house to watch the video. It was the most amazing thing ever.
This sent me googling. Thriller was released November 30, 1982 & I was married November 27, 1982. Time flies. I so loved the Thriller video & song. I suppose other than that, P.Y.T. I was born (1961) just at the right time for The Jackson Five’s music to be a big part of my childhood.
Beat it!
A classic album.
Have you seen the Miles avis version of that from Paris, with the incredible sax solo by Kenny Garret? youtu.be/QefIaYV4Avw?...
Davis, not avis. I try harder.
Meat hook Sodomy.
Human nature is my favourite from that album too.
That's yacht!
That is such a perfect and beautiful song.
Objectively, I have to go with Billie Jean. But I hear it so damn often that I will shout out “Baby Be Mine”, one of the two songs not considered for a single. That seven-note keyboard riff during the chorus. Has nothing to do with the main melody. Gets me every time.
Human Nature!
“The Lady In My Life” Mike + QJ + Toto + Rod Mother Fucking Temperton
Ooh, that’s a tough one. I’m not sure I could honestly choose, but that is a good choice!
Human Nature but only in Miles Davis's version. I will never forgive Michael Jackson or Lionel Richie for terrorizing my ears with that cliched interminable swill that is We Are the World.
I'm boring I liked the title song of the album. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOnq...
The right choice.
It's Billie Jean. Always has been his best song on any of his albums, always will be.
Wanna be Startin' Somethin'
"Human Nature's" the one I still sing in 2025...
💯!
Wanna be Starting Something
Beat it with that will ya😉🤣🥰👌☀️❤️
