I was camping on the flanks of this mountain in the late 70s. Got run off by a late night storm that blew in. Spent the next two days in Salida. Great country !
Had a similar experience trying to do a winter ascent of Humboldt - wind started snapping trees all around where I was camping, and I hastily retreated. Had some crazy wind on Mt. Blue Sky in winter too. It was so bad it wrecked the roof of the observatory and nearly blew me off the mountain.
