Never experienced this in a corporate environment. Every CEO I reported to wanted to know how the company can improve. If anyone laid the B.S. at the CEO they would be seeking employment elsewhere.

Any normal boss would be abhorred by this behavior. Some bosses may not take criticisms well, but no boss wants undying praise like this.
