An interesting way to spend a hot Sunday afternoon. Thank you. I always felt desperately sorry for Cassandra.
Rightly so.
I’ve been looking forward to Cassandra’s episode! 🤩
It's the sense of being trapped on a train headed over a bridgeless canyon... That's what I find so soul destroying.
Oh brilliant! Can't wait to walk and listen 🫶🏻
As Mark Twain noted ‘a pessimist is a well-informed optimist’
Really interesting discussion, although it shouldn’t surprise you that women don’t believe Cassandra either, as women are just as exposed to the societal norms of believing men over women as men are. Say, being female doesn’t immunise you to misogyny.
*Sadly
Again Alex, you've triggered me with this one!
Reward of a third listen: J C F Bach's extraordinary La Voce di Cassandra. Never heard it before. So 20th century, fractured accompaniment and the voice of a woman being shaken by what she alone can see. Music suited to 'Apollo, God of access, my ruin! What have you let me in for?' Thank you, AA.
Alex! Honestly. This ep has made me sound much smarter than I am lol. I’m bringing Cassandra up in so many conversations this week - gaslighting, silencing… she’s everywhere! Thank you, adore and appreciate you
My pleasure! Thank you for listening. x
Really enjoying this series. Thanks 🙏
Also, contains - hands down - the worst, vilest, most shiver-inducing song you have ever heard. By Lulu Belle in 1939.
Thanks for the warning!
I am excited to see as I've felt like I've been living in this space for years, having a background in human rights law and a passing interest in politics. It will be wonderful to go somewhere new with it :)
I'd love your reaction after you listen. x
So much to enjoy(!) Exploring the impact of gender on credibility was very enjoyable and thought-provoking. I can relate a little to being dismissed as hysterical as a gay man (bloody patriarchy). But it was an outward looking experience for the most part. And just fab. Thank you!
I can relate to that. "You're so dramatic."
I still haven't had a quiet moment to listen to this in full. Child moving to Hamburg and other stressful things. Something is definitely missing in my life until I have heard Cassandra. How can I help to sponsor a second series with my meager means Alex?
This is so fundamental to the problems of our time: ”The most hateful grief of all human griefs is to have knowledge of the truth but no power over events.” This is how people lower down the social ladder experience reality. They are disenfranchised. They see nobody has a clue, and are powerless.
Now that's an appropriate quote for these times
Sorry if you've already addressed this, but where has episode one gone from Spotify? I have a trip to IKEA Málaga today; this was really going to take the sting out of that and it's gone...
I took it temporarily off to sort out a volume issue and it has refused to reappear. Have tried to sort out, but they're useless. It's on every other carrier. Can you use a different one? x
If its elsewhere I'm sure I'll find it. Thanks loads and big love for QR 🙏
