The UK just announcing an intention to rejoin any EU structure will be met with absolute and total scorn, confirm the suspicions of many over there that Britain has learned nothing, AND be used by pro-Brexit people to mock rejoin, putting back what you long for by many years. You should rethink. 2/2

Short of announcing intention to rejoin... there are some very thick red lines (e.g. FOM, CU, SM) repainted yet again by Chanceller Reeves yesterday that should be dropped.

Brexit red lines that mean growth wont get started. Without a thriving economy Labour stand little chance of re-election. Why on earth can't Labour see this?

Quite... see also that £40Bn annual black hole (i.e. tax rises) that they keep complaining about. It wouldn't take a genius strategist to link those things.

How do you prove you are not a national stereotype to a set of people who are determined to believe that you are? Who have drunk the blue nationalist koolade, instead of the red one? I was often bullied at school and scorn is always the first weapon in the bullies' arsenal.

Well, maybe, but I think it's a lot more constructive than engaging in Farage's blame-a-migrant rhetoric.

absolute and total scorn being the entirely correct and appropriate response! We shouldn't even be entertained until we're on our knees begging with a massive gift and a promise to have our tail between our legs for at least a decade or two... at the very least..

Do you think Farage had this defeatist attitude when he spent years fighting to pull the UK out of the EU? I agree it won't be easy but what's the optimistic alternative? You want to keep on playing Farage's bash a migrant game?

god no - I say get on our knees NOW! We can't re-join fast enough IMHO and I think we should be willing to make massive concessions to get back in and put Farage et al back in the bin where they belong!

there probably isn't enough humble pie in the world, but we simply have to eat it...

I was often bullied at school and being a girl, scorn was always the main weapon in the bullies' arsenal. It is never the correct response. Insisting on a mainly Protestant UK population performing penance is something that they will not understand and will resent. I hope the EU realises that.
