I was half-joking. Don't ask me to defend a half-joke. It's harder to defend even than a joke-joke. All I was saying is that the MAGA-sphere has been rife, for years, with every kind of conspiracy, except the most obvious one ever.

Putin wouldn't kill him. He's too much of a useful idiot. I also suspect that if Putin *were* to take against him, there'd be a lot of humiliation on the world sta... Oh.

I think Vance is more useful than Trump. Especially when it comes to the destruction of democracy & peace in Europe. Which is Putin's main goal.

Hmmm. Vance has something resembling intellect, I'm not sure he'd be as easily manipulated as Trump... But perhaps it's more that, as you say, their values on the EU are somewhat aligned. However, I also suspect Vance is even more insecure than Trump but as a result, more fighty, for posturing.

Maybe Putin has done a deal with Vance and doesn’t need Trump any more, because he’s becoming a bit of a loose cannon who is harder for Putin to control?

Entirely possible... Trump seems increasingly irrational and therefore unpredictable from Putin's POV.

From Putin's Viewpoint, poisoning Trump would waste a russian asset. Then again: Voldemort killed Snape, whom he believed to be his most valueable asset.

Sense of humour and nuance left the Internet a while back so don't take it personally.

Well they're pretty invested -- and this still leaves me slackjawed with disbelief -- in not thinking ill of Putin. And this is entirely because of Trump.
