To those not familiar with the situation & geography, this isn’t as a result of the Canadian Government. This is as a result of the Provincial Minister of Education in the Province of Alberta (where Edmonton is located), which has Canada’s most right-wing (extreme right-wing in my observation) Govt.
Most right wing but also the most deliberately, willingly ignorant and cruel government in Canada and I live in Ontario.

Are extreme Christian groups in Canada as *rife* with child molesters as they are in America? If they are, PLEASE make that the talking point to destroy this group. Nobody in the US was willing to do that, because nobody wanted to be seen as "bigoted against Christians."
No idea to be honest. But the attitude towards religion is quite different here, I think. Strict separation between church and government. Everyone is aware that these “Christians” are so in name only. Pretty much reviled everywhere but their home base.
In 2023, for a bit over 7 months, I gathered data on who got news stories about being entered into the court system for Child Sexual Assault/Child Sexual Assault Materials possession. Wrecked my mental health doing it, and stopped. I also tracked down voter registration/party affiliations.
In 543 cases, I was able to *definitively* track down the following: 128 Republicans 9 Democrats 2 Libertarians Using looser standards, it went: 247 Republicans 10 Democrats 2 Libertarians. Cops made up 42%, clergy 40%, religious school teachers 9%. Here's my data:
It may be worth assembling a team to replicate this. They'll need counseling support, because it is depressing and enraging work. To build this as a formal study, I'd want access to voter registration data, social media archives that can't be "hidden" by the family, and county court archives.
Can we also add context that this list was leaked to school boards & Edmonton decided to maliciously comply to prove a point. Now, ppl are pissed off about it & the prov govt is backtracking. Edmonton is consistently at odds w our prov govt b/c we vote for the NDP & not UCP drivel.
The prov govt has literally changed municipal funding b/c Edmonton refused to quietly comply. They've refused to give Edmonton what they are supposed to, & are now getting involved in municipal affairs. The prov govt has also forced municipalities to allow parties in local elections.
They've done everything possible to make it more and more difficult for Edmonton to do anything & then our city Council take the blame.
Durn tooting! And when somebody follows the rules they wrote, it’s vicious and not in the spirit. Are we supposed to obey the spirit of the law now? It’s not criminal bribery of of politicians if they don’t think it is? If taking bribes is within the spirit of the law?
