The EU should ban a certain type of American car altogether. They’re dreadful vehicles.
I cannot understand how we got here with these huge stupid trucks being legal. No one needs these other than to make up for social inadequacy...why won't most families get a van or wagon...it looks uncool, and they feel safer driving a tank due to their poor driving skills.
I have neighbors who literally drive a Hummer as their family car.🤦🏼♀️

@brenttoderian.bsky.social But ! But ! the higher the SUV is, the bigger he SUV is, the safer it is ! (What soccer moms are told to protect themselves and their kids inside the truck). One needs to look at what marketing or social pressures drive people to buy such vehicles for city driving.
And with the speed of lightning - governments will do absolutely nothing about this because massive vehicles and the convoy clowns driving them are the main concern.
Tried measuring myself against a behemoth pickup truck yesterday. The top of the hood was just above my eyebrows. I likely wouldn't stand a chance of surviving the head trauma, let alone the running over.☹️🫤
And then add how much more they add to pollution...killing us that way too.
Get on top of capping ground clearance as well. Lift kits in the United States have produced behemoth that drive over everything including smaller cars. Some stock vehicle vehicles aren’t far behind.
Our city has a chronically high rate of death by car against cyclists and pedestrians.
In the Future SUV schould be forbidden. That s what will be when we create a new socialist republic.
"Crash test body says not as simple as that" Yeah, okay. We've had the design and technology to create larger vehicles like vans with snub noses and a better field of view for 50 years, but sure, it's not that simple...

And of course the EU is essentially giving up the possibility to regulate these cars as part of the US trade deal.
I remember an article in Saturday Night magazine in the 1980s that said basically, "Here are the changes we could make to cars to make them safer in the event of hitting a pedestrian". So we've known all along, & the only reason auto manufacturers are doing this is more money.
