Wait, if they are married, she is a citizen by marriage. What am I missing here?
Wait, if they are married, she is a citizen by marriage. What am I missing here?
You don't automatically get citizenship through marriage, it just makes the pathway to apply for it slightly shorter.
Everything. There’s no such thing as citizen by marriage.
No, marrying a U.S. citizen does not automatically grant you citizenship; it creates a pathway to lawful permanent residency (a green card), which can then make you eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship after three years of continuous residence and living with your spouse.
Damn how didn't I know this. I thought it was insta-citizen. Thanks for the clarification.
No pity for him. He voted for this. Stupidity and selfishness are no excuses. And she would be better off in Ireland or an other EU country than in Trumpistan.
He doesn't regret it. Im sick of this lying BS about people "regretting voting for him", he'd vote for him again in a heartbeat. If your regret isn't followed by "im a genuinely stupid/gullible person," then you're lying about backtracking support

On the plus side, at least that veteran’s wife is now well away from her idiot husband.
Moral turpitude.

So what’s good for one is good for all! Crime committed must leave the country! When is ICE going to deport Trump?
"moral turpitude" - this is explicitly christofascist. Its the same "reason" that Victorians used to put unwed mothers and homeless people in asylums and workhouses.
Felon Trump's Nazi Regime
Cruel and unusual
Cruel and no longer unusual.
Voting stupidly has consequences. And *millions of others* will suffer far more serious harm than that gullible fool and his wife.

Exactly.
Maybe dont be a dumb ass with your vote. You deserve all of this. Own it
Oh, so only NOW he regrets voting for the orange asshole? Sorry not sorry, fuck that dude.

ICE reduced educational requirements for employment to reduce the chance that an applicant got assigned this book by a "woke" college professor
He can take solace in the fact that he will never have to vote again.
How did that work out for the Jews?
Ireland is a wonderful place. He and the family can move there
The arrest and detainment of this woman is vile and reprehensible but my sympathy for the Trump voter has limits. What empathy do we owe to those who unleashed upon us this tyranny?
None
Who'd he vote for?
No, not that kind of criminal!
Of course, he only wanted "those" immigrants deported.
Dear vet. You were an complete idiot to vote for a felon (ciminal), rapist (criminal), habitual liar (criminal behavior), and Putin's bitch. No sympathy for complete idiots.
trump never hid his plans. I feel sorry for the wife and kids- but the guy is getting what he voted for. Sucks to be a moronic bigot, I guess.
Regrets his vote for Trump. So what's he going to do next election, vote republican again just not for Trump?
Oh, he'll vote for Trump again.
You give Trump too much credit, even he can't pull off unconstitutionally running for a third term.
Sorry about the truth, but ... why not?
Who’s stopping him
Oh you sweet summer child
He'll just create a bullshit justification to cancel the election (somethimg we've never done, we had elections in 1864 and 1944 damnit), so he doesn't need this guy or the thousands like him or his friends and family
He will try. Whether it works is another thing.
I actually think it's worse than him trying to run again, which he can't, I think he's going to create a crisis and try to stay in power without an election.
Very possible, but consider this: The two-term limit was not officially established until the 22nd amendment was ratified in 1951. FDR served four terms. There are people alive today who remember his 3rd and 4th terms, the latter of which ended with his death in 1945.
And why are we considering this?
Because some people are going to use these as excuses for ignoring the 22nd amendment, and it's best to know what arguments they'll use rather than just assuming that he can't serve more than 2 terms
So the reasons the 22nd amendment exists are also reasons to ignore the 22nd amendment? That feels pretty tortured, even in this hellscape.
No, the fact that the 22nd amendment was fairly recent means that the Right can argue to their base that it violates the intent of the Framers and begin carving out strange penumbras from it that allow Trump to run. With SCOTUS ultimately deciding whether Trump can appear on state ballots.
It’s what Giuliani floated doing after 9/11 and then NYers remembered why they didn’t like him on 9/10.
22nd amendment prevents anyone from being elected President after being elected twice before Trump's backers want SCOTUS to rule if Trump can be elected VP or appointed Speaker of House and then have Vance etc. resign and Trump become President by succession. Putin used similar trick in Russia.
He will try to hang onto power without an election, but a charade election, followed by a dubious interpretation of constitution, gives his regime legal cover.
He may try...but it would have to be as a write in. Not a single state would allow him on the ballot. The federal courts will not allow it. There is a 0.000% probability of a single SCOTUS Justice saying yes to this.
You obviously haven't been paying attention to SCOTUS over the last few years.
Of course I have. They've been inescapable. There is simply no chance (NONE AT ALL) that any of the Justices will look at the 22nd and say "nah." This is not a close call.
I think there is a fair to middling chance a majority of the Supreme Court justices, particularly those appointed by Trump himself, will be willing to abandon the constitution entirely and just rule in Trumps favor to let him do whatever he wants.
Don't hold your breathe. You may loose
Funny you should say that.. when Don Jr is *right there*.

That's a different woman and you should probably quit while you're behind. www.firstalert4.com/2025/09/04/w...
It's not a different woman, it's the same woman. They're 100% right, the original tweet says it's about Donna Hughes-Brown xcancel.com/LongTimeHist...
It’s the exact same story. Same people. Not a different woman. Read closely.
You're right, I was incorrect. But we have two news stories from actual news outlets making completely different claims about the same woman. Newsweek claims English / five kids. KMOV claims Irish / four kids. How can we know who's right? I'm not sure these minor discrepancies change the main point.
For what it's worth, I checked with the reporter who wrote the KMOV story and she says Donna was born in England but is an Irish citizen, and the reporter also double-checked that she has five kids. So according to that reporter, it's the older Newsweek article that got the facts wrong.
What basic facts? What are you jibbering about?
Woman is from Britain not Ireland. She was visiting Ireland. She’s been in the state 37 years not 45. This isn’t from today. READING IS FUNDAMENTAL.
I appreciate you adding clarity
We just need to make sure the information we are spreading is accurate or we get to a point that we can’t believe anything being shared.
Or it’s a different story.
It is not.
Yes, it is.
She also has only four, not five, children, but none of these discrepancies is material to the story.
It is if you are posting information that’s incorrect for click bait. That’s what you all are falling for. Click bait. This didn’t happen “today.” It happened at the end of July. Enough misinformation is going around, we don’t need this crap too.
Nobody is paid on this app for clicks.
These high profile accounts are getting something from this. Maybe not ad revenue but they are getting something.
Oh, can it, you weirdo
Do you not realize how absolutely insufferable you are
Ah, so the story of a 4-child mother from England only in the us 35 years would drive so much fewer clicks.
Again, you guys are gullible if you think this is innocuous. It makes people question anything if the information is not vetted. Why would someone share this, cut out the date, not be accurate w/what they are saying? No different than Trump exaggerating.
Jesus, thank goodness your cat can't understand you
The date is on the post. Sept 6. Did you not see that?
It seems the basic facts are correct, although the article doesn't specify the particular misdemeanor.
Again, basic facts are NOT correct. If you let this stuff slide, how do we know you vet anything? I don’t trust an account that spreads inaccurate information. It should make you suspicious when they cut out the date, when they repost other people’s post and cut out the date. Have some discernment.
Put a sock in it, you exceedingly annoying person
Ah that changes everything then, you extremely strange person
The woman this thread is about is from Iran.
I hate to agree with the annoying scold here, but no, you're confused.
No. She isn’t.

It’s very important that we hit our numbers! 💯 Thank you for your attention in this matter?

lol hilarious.
I've yet to see a straight-up "Fuck Him" in stories like these. There's always an "I agree with him about x" included, too.
Exactly, they’d all eagerly run back to Trump if only he wasn’t blatantly screwing them over.
If this vet had any balls, he’d be the one to “DO IT.”
"My wife did crimes, she should be renditioned to Uganda"
X is usually "hurting brown people I don't know"
Welcome to the old fashioned sentiment that the Irish aren't white. Make America Great Again.
I feel like a lot of mistakes, at a national level, could have been avoided if Americans of Irish descent had responded to the invitation of acceptance into whiteness by saying "Thank you, but fuck you." Don't know that we have the opportunity to opt out now. But something to consider.
“Beyond the pale” and all that…
Yup
Maybe she's black Irish.
They can’t change. I mean they literally can’t, it’s brain wiring.
Or, from another PoV, it would entail the complete destruction of their own ego, bound up as it is with being an authoritarian follower of Trump
This is exactly what I'm trying to get my coworker to understand when he acts like he just can't understand them. This is their identity and it would take a complete breakdown of it for them to let it go.
"I supported the face-eating leopards, and still do, but I was told they'd only be eating OTHER people's faces." Because of course they still fundamentally agree with him; nothing he's done is surprising or even outside of what he campaigned on, and what they voted for.
They're consistent in their ignorance and/or hatred. They only regret being collateral damage.
100% and i think that’s important to remember before you debate or discuss anything with one of them. they’ll never be like “oooh, i’m just a shitty racist, and people are using that to take advantage of me, i should change.”
I agree with Gavin Newsom about some things, but he can also 100% go fuck himself with a barbed stick for his abhorrent views and the giant list of awful things he's done (and is still doing!). I wish some MAGA types would be willing to say the same about their Dear Leader
Some do. I live in a red state and know plenty of older folks who are very critical of the RFK Jr situation. It's just not a deal breaker. The central MAGA promise is mass deportations and anti-woke, so they will criticize but not abandon as long as he keeps up the racist stuff.
Yes, they're still on their knees, just a bit sad that what they voted for happened to THEM This is why I won't have open arms to 'bring them back' - they. are. not. coming. back. His wife is in jail and yet he can't bring himself to say "fuck trump" or "I made a mistake" or "I'll never vote GOP"
Right? These stories always have a quote that's basically "well he kidnapped my wife and threw her in a secret prison, but otherwise he's a swell guy."
Let's face it, if it were a Caribbean wife of someone else, been here the same amount of time and had a similarly minor criminal history, he would have been fine with it.
He VOTED for that! Quite happily, I'm sure.
This is a disturbing story. On the other hand, they voted for Trump-Vance last fall thereby abrogating 99% of my sympathy. “They’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats, they’re eating the pets in Springfield.“ Donald Trump JD Vance All. Lies. All the. Time.

They got the government they voted for. Zero sympathy zone activated.
I feel 0 sympathy for anyone who was dumb enough to vote for Don Trump. Sorry, not sorry.
The Irish are no longer white Europeans. What did I tell everyone. Anyone not a WASP is up for deportation.
Lookup moral turpitude in the dictionary and you get a picture of Trump.
Gee, I voted for a treasonous felon and it was a mistake, who'd have thought? 🤷♂️
This is PERFORMANCE CRUELTY. ICE is tearing apart families to create fear, and feed the HATRED and RACISM of trump’s MAGA Cult.

The secret police that Biden/Harris could have abolished, but chose instead to hand over to an infamous crook.
Trump did say all illegal immigrants are criminals. Why did they think they'd be safe? How stupid they are.
Stupidity is a recurring theme with MAGA.
The woman who's been jailed and faces deportation came here LEGALLY. She was received a green card and lived here LEGALLY for decades. She went back to visit family and was denied reentry to the U.S. BECAUSE SHE BOUNCED A $25 CHECK ten years ago, which is a misdemeanor. Are you stupid?
With 5 kids, I think he barely had time to inform himself and only saw headlines.
He was fine with cruelty to others.
They don’t pay attention, they don’t read.
Very, very stupid
Trump's rambling lets people hear what they want to hear; one moment he seemingly exaggerates and says he'll deport everyone, because illegal is illegal, then says he'll only go after the "bad criminals," so both sides got to hear what they needed to vote for him.
I have no tolerance for these people and never will. Whether ignorance, stupidity, bad faith, or some combination thereof, they absolutely deserve the hell they bring upon themselves.
📌
Wow... we got all the murderers, rapists and drug dealers already, did we?
There's lots more of this coming. It's a little late for regrets. You should never have given him another term.
At this rate, how long before he pisses off every remaining voter?
I think she's a victim, but the husband? Fuck him, sorry your family is being torn apart. But he was fine with this happening to other people, he's just mad it's his family. Fuck him.
You know who's committed actual crimes of moral turpitude? Donald fucking trump.
"I thought they would only make other people suffer, not me"
He deserves it. She should return to far superior Ireland without him. Ireland doesn’t want far right bigots that’s the large island to the East
FAFO
To be clear, Trump said he'd deport *all* illegal immigrants. The easiest way for him to do that is find stupid pretexts to justify removing legal status from the immigrants who are easiest to catch. Hint: that doesn't include actually dangerous criminals.
Have these fuckers caught one actual criminal? Seems like all the ones they’ve thrown out, put together, have fewer felony convictions than the Cabinet
Voting matters
mattered, anyway
Can’t help thinking that if she and the kids get free tickets to Ireland and escape from Kentucky and the shit-for-brains husband then that’s got to be a win for her?
Gloating over somebody’s family being ripped apart is a bad look.
Not gloating… just wondering if she just dodged a bullet!
By losing her home and family?
No, I got it. It just cruel and unfunny.
We held space @ Portland ICE today. MAGA/Project 2025/Stephen Miller ideology is destroying our democracy & our social fabric.
Leopards eating so good 🐆
He openly bragged during the election about what he was going to do. His enablers wrote about it in Project 205 too. Still, half the country was cool with it all as long as it wasn’t their loved ones being deported. And now they’re upset?
Moral turpitude is easy to find these days, more recent cases too. For example this detention
ICE is the American Gestapo and Trump is, as JD Vance said, America’s Hitler.
Hard to feel for these deluded racists who knowingly voted for a convicted felon pedophile adulterer - someone who bragged about grabbing women by their genitals and walking in on teenage girls changing; who mocked a disabled person, and who grifts and lies constantly.
He agreed with getting rid of "criminal illegal aliens" but must have missed the many mentions that ANYONE who entered the country undocumented would be considered criminal. Vicious idiot voters like this asshole is why we're here.
She has a green card it’s being revoked because she bounded a check 12 years ago
bounced
They don’t care until it hurts them.
Always. 100%. It's literally the definition of "conservative."
🎯
Pretty basic pillar of conservatism. - no safety nets until a storm/ flood hits the south - don't support gay marriage until their child comes out - cut gvrnmt support for healthcare unless it's their Medicare - abortion is black & white until their wife or daughter needs emergency care - etc. etc.
It's Wilhoit's law all the way down: "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect"
"the GOP - and all Conservative movements - is predicated on the existence of the 'other' who is a threat to 'our' way of life" a wise friend once said.
100% this.
Exactly. Because passing a bad check *is* a crime. A very small one, yes. An extremely common one, also yes. But when we start using vague, coded language like “criminal elements” there’s nothing separating writing bad checks from running a drug cartel. It depends on the whim of the enforcers.
Eventually we’ll all be part of the “criminal element” because it’s no longer about breaking the law but being the wrong kind of person.
I've read we all commit anywhere from three felonies a day to a few a week. They declared "antifa" terrorists right away, and they want to punish "criminals and murderers, *and those who support them.*" We don't even need the 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon game to catch everyone in those nets.
A day?! How is that even possible? God, I'm so curious now.
It was a whole book, if you look there's like recap articles. I was shocked too. Then I thought about people driving and applied that to everything else in life and I can see it. There's probably a lot of unenforced whack laws too, like on Parks & Rec lol duckduckgo.com?q=three%20fe...
The book completely fails to support its thesis and is largely bogus. It's true that some things are felonies that you might not expect, but a couple a day? Nonsense.
I guess also I think of it as you could get busted for lending money to your brother & he used it to buy pot. Now that $ exchange doesn't happen everyday but you could be busted for it everyday. You financed & associated with a possible felon. Does that make sense? Now they are prosecuting morgages
You inspired me to read some more articles that were critical of the claim. A lot agree with you. I think of smoking pot or accidentally stealing mail. It goes into how the system aims for convictions not truth, so innocent people get looped in. I did try to give a range. Maybe it's a spiders Georg?
Doing the California Roll through a stop sign is a felony? I can see how many of us commit three crimes a day, but three felonies?
Here's one with examples, that might explain it better. www.mic.com/articles/867...
Ok I went & skimmed one of the articles. I did say it, it's only right to need to follow up. The stat also majorly reflects our system pressuring individuals to plea bargain, confess, or be a witness to false info. The system just wanting the conviction could find enough to charge you, type deal.
Haha, thanks! As if my reading list isn't long enough 😂
I swear just the articles are enough to hit the lesson home. I know The List can never be defeated and is overwhelming at times! (especially with current day subject matter)
"It's only real if it affects me." Also "I got mine so bugger off!" It's the worst of human nature.
