The goal isn’t about actual efficiency. The use of “efficiency” is a form of semantic infiltration. They know gutting the IRS’s ability to investigate the complex returns of billionaires is diminished. Functionaries will then audit poor and middle class people to show a work product.

Efficiency?!? Trump’s massacre of the IRS has nothing to do with efficiency. His massive cuts are about retribution. The IRS audited more extremely wealthy tax cheats and reclaimed 1.3 billion dollars in unpaid taxes. This is all about payback.

Goal of efficiency? Please. Musk's interest in quashing investigations into his own misconduct -- together with protecting and expanding his own government contracts -- explains "what DOGE is up to" far better than any purported cost savings, "efficiency" gains, or "fraud" it is finding.
