“As a businessman, Trump spent a lot of his career profoundly in debt,” writes @davidfrum.bsky.social. “His bankers often bailed him out, and he seems to believe that the Federal Reserve should do the same for his presidency”:

I don't understand. Republicans gave up Christianity and their moral values to elect a conman trying to stay out of prison. They even thought Trump who carried debt his entire life with six bankruptcies would revive the economy and bring down prices. Can anyone explain why they are so dumb? 🤔

DJT continues his conman schtick. To have as much power and still fail?! Pathetic.

Those bankers bailed him out at a huge cost to all the other Americans who would use the money wisely.

Jack Straw @kingfisherparker.bsky.social

He is a “businessman” that was able to bankrupt an Atlantic City casino which issued a bond that couldn’t make 1st coupon payment. That’s takes a special kind of destructive capability.

We will all go to our graves never having seen Donald Trump take personal responsibility for any mistake he ever made. He will always take credit for the success of others, as he destroys the world economy in his arrogance and pride.

I am legit terrified at what will happen to our economy if he’s able to fire Powell. Even if he’s not able to, Powell‘s term is up in 2026. 😬

Ben Meiselas says just like Trump tried to blame Fauci for COVID, he will now try blame Powell for the Trump economy. Trump is a criminal convicted of massive financial fraud, he just makes up numbers, he's been doing it his whole life. Trump is also a predator as exposed in the E Jean Carroll case.

Removing the independence of the central bank is the strongman thing to do. But it will further damage investor trust in how the country is governed, and cause major problems in terms of inflation, currency rates and interest rates. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish...

Surprised they haven’t already. If you look at history the federal reserve - Republicans to a man - run the economy really hot for Republican presidents.
