Fair enough, I can't tell because I didn't re-subscribe because of too many actual pieces like this. I'm probably being unfair to the journalists, it wasn't just Applebaum and Frum who were good but there were too many centrist style pieces.

Thanks. I must admit I didn't click to read it. Glad it was meant to be satire. A lot of things in the Atlantic written to be serious read like satire these days.
She used to work for the Post (who have lost like 70% of their staff, iirc). I wouldn't say this is her best work, tbh, but I don't think even the Atlantic has anyone stupid enough to seriously suggest appeasing Trump could have been appeased. Even Chatterton wouldn't say that, and he's an idiot
I can never remember Chatterton's full name. That's just his middle name. Probably the worst writer they have. Anyhow, I think most people know someone like Trump has a void that can never be filled. Maybe if you kidnapped him as a baby and gave him a different childhood. Too late for that now.
