In the same vein, I am a big believer that the easiest restriction (from a purely technical side of things) is to go right for semi-automatic actions. With some very niche exceptions (I hear that wild boars are pests and vicious), if you think you need semi-auto functions... ... no, you don't.
Personally I’m more scared of detachable mags. Like, OK cool you have an M1 you’re going to unload 8 rounds fast but I (or whomever is left) can hit you with a shoe when the clip “pings”. Vs. you found a way to attach an x-rounds drum to a pump shotgun and have an unknown number of additional mags.
