This is more so what I was thinking, yes. It's the fear of constantly being unable to move and get up, prove you are alive, as they take everything you are away from you.

Exactly. I once was fully awake while a surgeon was fixing my eye; I could see the shadow of his instruments moving inside my eyeball, and it was AWESOME. So, not at all like 2025 in America.
