The goalie GOAT conversation centers around Roy, Brodeur, and Hasek, but it’s really Dryden. His eight-season career was insane. He won the Conn Smythe the year before winning the Calder Memorial Trophy.

more than a great hockey player, best hockey writer ever.
Good color commentator too. Miracle on Ice with Al Michaels.
Ken Dryden was poetry dressed in skates and goalie equipment. To see such a big man move with grace, while protecting a 4X6 area, was worthy of Carnegie Hall. RIP while those of us who witnessed your greatness mourn.
Orr & Esposito are still having ‘71 flashbacks & nightmares. Kharlamov, too, from ‘72…..
Sad day
RIP Ken Dryden. He was the best goalie I ever saw. He was spectacular and he, along with the Mahovlich brothers, stole a cup for Montreal in 1971 that most experts thought would go to Chicago.
RIP.
The most important stat I learned about Ken Dryden today is that while in parliament he never authored or sponsored a single bill.
