The government should be blamed for not pushing back aggressively against bad faith TV immigration coverage. But the prime culprits are the broadcasters: their news reporters, correspondents, editors and producers are amplifying and repeating lies. They are colluding in deception. It is shameful.

The govt always has to be more reserved in its comments. It doesn't have the freedom of smaller opposition parties.

Had an argument with someone else on here on this yesterday. The contrast between New Labour where Campbell had the press on a v. tight leash until at least 2005 and today is instructive. Lisa Nandy should be fired & replaced by anyone who can push back hard against this stuff. Time's up.
