Canada does export milk, butter, cheese, whey and yogurt to the US to the tune of $488M CD (2023's total). To think that the US paid US dairy farmers to kill off some of their herds because of over-production. Now, even that will come back to bite them in their a$$.

I was just thinking about this. I live in rural America. 15 years ago there were tons of dairy farms around me. Then it started drying up and a shortage happened some time later. I'm pretty sure this is more detrimental to us than Canada. People are so out of touch with farming here.

Total dairy export to the US represents less than 1 % of our global export of all goods going south! A debate over nothing!

I believe the way it was explained on CBC news tonight was that our supply management system keeps most of our milk in Canada and that the relatively small amount which is exported would have little to no effect on our dairy farmers. That was my understanding & my post could've been worded better.
