It wasn't quicksand for a long time. There's a documentary on Twitter in netflix if you want to watch it. The twitter/X platform has been there since 2006. That's well over a decade (almost 2 decades?!) that's it existed and had people growing their digital lives on.

The USA was once the land of the free, home of the brave? What's it now? Times change, people need to adapt. ,

It became quicksand after Musk and Yaccarino got their talons onto it. I don't care what happened beforehand, read the room and move on.

Twitter has only been X for 2 years.

Musk starting purchasing it in April 2022, so over three years. Facts matter, I don't care when the name changed, his involvement turned it into a cesspool.

Facts do matter. But much of this is subjective. I'm not trying to defend, I'm explaining why. The psychology, the nuance, the context. I'm saying that some accounts that are still there might have legit reasons that have nothing to do with supporting Musk/Nazis. They may want to leave but cant 100%

Now, there was a comment somewhere under the OP that was promising and it was talking about teaching/training for getting people/businesses off of the platform formerly known as twitter. That seems more... actionable than telling people to just "Wake the fuck up".

How much more warning did they need? Seriously?

Realistically speaking it would take a long time to rebuild without a plan, guidance, money etc And when Twitter turned into X it wasn't apparent it would end up this way for a while. It may seem like it's been 10 years, but its been half a year of 47 and that's when the writing started appearing

on the wall, which not everyone is pro at reading patterns. Businesses and organizations don't move as fast as individuals. Plus if you have ever had to move a conference/large gathering suddenly, getting people out is slower than you would think- and that is -with- someone directing.

We’ve literally been calling for friends and business to get off the platform since 2022. How shitty does it have to get? @jonfavs.bsky.social is NOT HELPING

Not sure who janfavs is, but the reply to the OP I was mentioning was levin.bsky.social's post about training for migration to Bsky. Honestly the real solution is out of our reach right now and involves intelligent laws and real regulation and enforcement of these giant companies.
