Hmm. I know ChatGPT is not always right but I must say I agree with it here. Maybe it’s a cultural/Canadian thing?

It still irritates me to this day that when I read 19th century have to stop and mentally say to myself “they mean the 1800s.”

It irritates me that people have trouble with it, but there’s not much to debate. I used to watch Walter Cronkite’s series “The Twentieth Century” and “The Twentyfirst Century”. Those names are very firmly burned into my neurons.

Yeah the 20th century doesn’t bother me. But don’t ask me what the 8th century bc is. 900s?

The first century CE is literally 0001 - 0100, but 0001 - 0099 is common parlance. (Stupidly there is no year zero.) Arthur C Clarke was adamant that the 21st century started in 2001.

Similarly for BCE the first century BCE is 100 BCE - 1 BCE.

Oh man. You’ve just opened up a whole new can of worms with CE vs BC.
