What’s wild about privacy of info is that under our existing legislation (PIPEDA / PIPA Acts, etc.) Canadian orgs/businesses are already required to use either 🇨🇦 servers, EU ones (substantively similar privacy leg there so they’re safe) or US *companies* which abide by “Safe Harbor” laws. 1/3
Major corps like Microsoft & Google *used to* be two reliable ones which followed those Safe Harbor guidelines, which had them meet the same “substantively similar” standards, but if they aren’t anymore?? That’s going to be HUGE because our legislation hasn’t & won’t change! 🇨🇦 2/3
Canadian org/businesses will be required to port their data storage, emails, etc to other providers which can and will meet those standards in order to maintain the expectation of protection of personal information! EU-based providers will still be OK, as will 🇨🇦 ones but this is HUGE!! 😳😬 3/3
