Most of my friends think I'm wasting my time and, I probably am. But I had to try. Here is an open letter, and an honest plea, to Clarence Thomas, in hopes that he might do the right thing this decision season. He hates me as much as I hate him. But I had to try.
Abandoning the incumbent was sabotage. We could be installing Kamala right now. But no.
If he had even a shred of decency or humanity, but he sold those things to the highest bidder & now only cares about the opinions of those who line his pocket. He’s the epitome of a sell out😞
I’m afraid that, whatever he thinks about the obvious racism and apartheid of this administration, he has made himself off-brand and off-brand he will remain, despite all the truths in your letter.

It's hard going up against a lifetime of motivated reasoning. I think the Racial Darwinism is close to where he started off, but since then, he's had decades to reinforce his hatred of everyone who accused him of taking bribes or throwing Black people under the bus, and he'll always hate them.

🔥 I well remember Thomas' confirmation hearings while I was in law school. I walked by one afternoon as students were watching. I called him a race traitor. Several Black law students gasped at a cracker saying that. Told them to go read about his work at the EEOC in the St. Louis Dispatch. 1/3
Then his first opinion came out. Jaws dropped in disbelief. He sided with sadistic prison guards who beat a shackled (wrists and feet) inmate and found it was not cruel or unusual punishment. It was deserved. Finally a law student dug out the EEOC coverage I had talked about. 2/3
He has never failed to claim victimhood from the oppression of civil rights laws since no one sees his accomplishments. We have been seeing them from him before he was on the bench. Thanks for writing such a powerful piece. This goes on my bulletin board to remind me why I fight for my clients. 3/3
