In WA state, they had Carolina Gold bbq sauce ONCE. One year. Then never again. Nowhere. The greatest BBQ or any sauce of all time was this stuff called Gator Grenade, and it was mustard based but brown, with stuff I have found in no other sauce.

I’ve lived in NC for over two decades, and I just recently had a mustard-based barbecue sauce for the first time. I wouldn’t have thought I would like it, but it was excellent.

I grew up in South Carolina but moved away for work. It’s not impossible to find here, but it ain’t easy. I miss finding it in every other shop i walk into
