It's always funny to scroll thru the comments. Post after post after post expressing love and respect for both man and dog, when suddenly "CLANG!" - a post from somebody with a complaint! In every crowd, there is an outlier. 😂

Maybe some elderly people with old dogs saw the video and were "inspired" by the idea of using a ramp so they could go to a park together, like they did in "the old days". It's beautiful.

Amazing. That exact scene is played out every day at a park down the street from me. A man about the same age brings an elderly shepherd for a walk, using a ramp just like that. I have a feeling that when one of them leaves the world, the other will soon follow. And that isn't sad. It's love.

I had one of those ramps for my two dogs: one died at 14 years old and one died at 17 years old 🧌❤️❤️❤️

It made it possible for them to visit one of our closest and uncrowded parks almost every day❤️ I have lots of pictures ❤️

This is why I get dogs that are under 20 pounds… at some point you are going to have to be able to carry them….

Except with age or disability carrying them might be less possible than this . My pets are little dogs but I can no longer often bend to pick them up or cuddle them. My assistance dog I can reach . Restrictions impact us differently

So what do you do when it gets too old to manuver?

Ramps as this man uses , sleep downstairs to avoid steps. Home visiting vet, home delivery of supplies. It's not so different to considering my own needs. When our sub ten kilo dog was paralysed last year we had friends and paid support come to help him on days my husband could not be here.

You'd be surprised. I see people walking their dogs with their eyes on their phone the entire time. They don't say one word to their dog. Makes me sad to see it.

But when you're taking the dog for a walk, generally they're far more interested in things around than in you. An interactive situation is different, or at home. I used to talk to my dogs all the time, and I think most people do - at least I hope so!

Ah, I can see that, I guess. I have cats, and they don't need walking, but I do talk to them a lot (but sometimes I think it's an excuse for me not to seem like I'm talking to myself, LOL).

Why assist? The man isn't struggling but just going about his daily business. When I use my one working arm to put the ramp out for our tripaw I do not need or want assistance. However, if I am obviously struggling with something (eg opening a blasted ketchup packet), please do offer to assist!

also there are disabled people (including elderly people) who get upset (for a good reason) if you don't let them do what they can do. They like to be useful and not entirely dependant.

Like tripping the auto door to stay open while a person using walking aids can get through safely!

If they need, yes, but in this case he didn't need help.

Poor guy can't jump like he use to anymore.

I am 86, black dog is 15. At 70 I decided that every dog had to be small enough to pick up and put in the car. She doesn't want to go in the car. She wants to run around and play keep away. Away we go.
