Well, you won't believe.... Looked out last night and saw mom and baby porky walking around my yard. No porkys for months! Baby glued to her like on a string! Then yacking to each other in the woods..... OOOOOooóoooah and then the echo. With almost a trill-like quality to the call. So cool!

I once saw one running! It was crossing road ahead of my car in dusk. I stopped, flashed headlights at oncoming truck, who also stopped. We dimmed lights a bit, porky picked up the pace and raced for side of the road past us both! Adorable ! Zoom zoom.

Um, don't be petting porky-pines! If it was a pet, maybe one would know how. Otherwise, when they freak, all their quills go up. The reason they get killed on roads so much is their defense is to turn their back to danger and put their quills up as protection. Works on animals, not vehicles.
