This is the best thing I’ve seen in a while. I’ll sleep well tonight.

Smart farret
Wow , love the way she drags him in to see her babies .👏👏👏👏
Pure trust, adoration and species bonding 💞 Love crosses all boundaries and delivers joy💓💓💓
Heartmelting!
Ferrets have a very tight knit social structure and if the alpha doesn't approve of the babies the parent will kill them all. So it's vital for the alpha to approve the babies by getting their scent on them. That's what the mama ferret is trying to do.
Fascinating!
Yes the owner doesn't touch the babies and get their scent all over it the mother will likely kill them. This is what I've been informed with so if it's wrong by all means please correct me. I hate spreading bad information.
*if the owner. Transcribe sucks at times. Sry
Wait, so since the owner didn’t actually touch the babies…is the mother going to kill them..
It's possible.
That doesn’t sound right..I highly doubt breeders start touching all of the newborns immediately. I’d assume there are more people than not who’d think it’s not a good idea to handle or poke something so small and fragile…and if that were the case, it would probably be more widespread information.
I've never been able to have them myself so I don't know directly. But that's what I've been told by breeders. I did work with rodent breeders back when I was a teenager. And honestly rats make amazing pets.
I’ve also heard from rabbit breeders that if disturbed with extreme noise or vibrations, the mothers may eat their babies. The rabbit mothers not the breeder’s mothers! 🤪😂
😳
I’ve had both, but I never have breedable ones. It’s always the same gender (my rats) or only one at a time (my ferrets). My partner’s mom had a rat that got impregnated when one of the males escaped the other cage..she held the pinkies, but we were separating her and her babies from the rest.
Rats don't have alphas so they wouldn't do that to the babies. Ferrets do though and it's why they bring the babies to the owner as the owner is seen as the alpha.
I guess the only way we will know is by finding a ferret breeder. It's almost pointless for me to look for one here in California. Did you know that they are illegal here because they can carry the same type of flea that's known to carry the bubonic plague? A flea any animal can carry
No, I didn’t…that’s ridiculous. The black plague fleas weren’t even actually spread by the rats, they actually travelled on humans.
Just goes to show you how stupid some of our laws really are. 🤷🏻♀️
Wow.
My personal favorite are Rats for pets. If you can't have a cat or dog get a rat. They don't live long though. Very sad.
Stinking smart. I have a 13 yo rescue dog and sometimes I have to check to see that she’s breathing in the morning. That will be a sad day. But, nothing and no one is guaranteed a long or easy life so live your best and love hard.
I would really like to know what it is ???? I don't recognize it. Gorgeous animal!
A ferret!
Thank you! I've seen ferrets in pet supply stores but they seemed so much larger. The one in the video looks just a little larger than a hamster!
You're welcome, I'm no expert, far from it but loving cute animals I've learned about them around the late 90's or the early 2000's, they're adorable and though in Nature they prey on rabbits, as pets they can even be friends if raised together, not sure but I've seen cases of this.
It's a bit of sexual size dimorphism with ferrets. A hob can get nearly twice as large as a jill. So you probably saw male ferrets (hobs) in those stores. Which would be reasonable - because mixing them might cause unwanted offspring. ;)
A jill on the smaller end of sizes can comfortably curl together in an adult man's hand. A hob needs both hands. Also, hobs tend to play *much* rougher than jills. Though both genders are sneaky little rascals. :)
I was surprised too at the grasp. The teeth look like they could do damage and yet the ferret took the finger and led the person to the nest. The person obviously was an experienced handler and knew that he wasn't being bitten. I am seeing so much in these videos that I never imagined!
If they take you up as part of their group, they don't really bite, but as I said, the boys tend to play it rough and even a playful bite can draw blood. Like, similar to a small scratch.* Look at the teeth in the video, mommy doesn't actually try to close her mouth, but actually drags the hand.
* that's why with ferrets, it is pretty important to teach them what *is* a toy and what *isn't*. With my first hob I didn't do that - which made my hands look like I reached into a running woodchipper, after playtime. 🤣 Again. Not agressive, but they're used to playmates with thick FUR. 😉
How do you teach a hob the hand are not a toy? I suppose that you start very young but ...
By never using them as such*. Use cat-toys. Ferrets are wicked smart little critters. But they tend to ... 'forget' things a lot. So, hands or fingers are a no-go. *which is reeaally tough, because some of them fur-noses have the most fluffy fur you just want to bury your fingers in. 🙈
I used to date a woman like that!
They can vary in size a bit!
That she trusts the ‘hooman’ with her babies is just such a beautiful thing. ♥️♥️♥️
Super adorable
Proud mama!!😍
😍
I love the trust and Mom's pride. I can never get enough of these joyful videos.
Oh my heart. Such cuteness.
I love how she showed off her cute babies and then stood on them.
😻
Awe, what a proud mama. She says, "Look what I did. They just painfully popped out of me. It is a miracle. " lol.
This is so excellent!
How cute! What is it?
Its mostly likely the woman's hand smells like one of her babies and is trying to bring back her "baby", the hand, with the other babies
It’s actually the ferret mother requesting the approval of and scent transfer for her babies. As someone else said, they have group leaders and the group leader must approve of the babies and make them smell like the leading party/parties
Babies I have brought you food!
Adore
Awwwww!
Ah yes my grand kids... NOW WHERES THE FATHER!! 🤣
this is basically what one of my cats did 💀 "you can't resist, human. I made them beautiful! aren't they beautiful? Don't they need a home?"💀💀💀
💔😭💞😺🌈☁️
wat
Apologies... I thought you were distressed they died🤷 I often don't understand some posts🤦
She is so proud.
She should be! She's succeeding at ferreting!
She sure is!
This video absolutely destroyed the cuteness meter!
i believe i was told that the reason ferrets are illegal is that they are not native and present a problem to the animal that looks like a ferret and my old brain must have chucked the name out…google remembered weasel
📌
Other animal parents: if you look at my babies you're dead meat! Ferret parents: hello furless giant let me show you my newborns, aren't they adorable? Legit love these floof noodles so much 🥰
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Is she missing the company of other adult ferrets to help? Is this her first litter?
Sweet!
💖
🥰💕❤️💛
I had a ferret years ago. Best pet ever. I think my fiancée wants to get one and I can’t wait😍
Love and trust. ❤️
🥰
What is that?
Looks like a ferret.
This is cute, but I suspect based on my recent experience with my daughter and grandson, that the sentiment is more like, "Human, you have nipples. Will you take care of these little assholes so I can get a couple hours of sleep?"
She's sharing her newborn babies with us.
Awww 🥰🥰
well that is something. 😍
That’s so cute!
What a sweet girl.🙂
