I had a lab/border collie cross when my kids were young. She absolutely herded them. Constantly vigilant.

Thats a gorgeous mix. I currently have a terrier the vet reckons she is possibly border collie/ lab / jack russell mix, she likes herding flies . She doesn't want to kill them just Guard them. Even though she tries to be gentle they inevitably meet their demise and she is disappointed

They do need good training, plenty of mental stimulation and exercise, lots of exercise.

Yep. I trained both my service dogs. We started at 10 wks with basics, then when all vaccines have been administered we do a LOT of socialization and exposure to trains, planes, autos, farm animals, crossing grates on sidewalks, opening doors, picking up keys…. 😉

My first service dog, Fenway, was 1/4 Grey Wolf. She was alarmingly smart. She could spell and do some math. I could command her in six languages. Her ability to read me was uncanny. Intelligence and determination traits are importantly and necessary for my dog. 😊

Thanks! A zoom call would be excellent, and resources are helpful! The dogs play and play…fun to watch hide ‘n seek and the chasing back and forth, but she needs constant stimulation, which I can’t give her as I work from home, and my other pup gets tired, lol. They take naps 😇

Our border collie used to spend all day rounding up the kittens. One of them - our Maine Coon kitten- actually learned herding from him and started herding my husband and me. It was the cutest thing.

We have a Border Collie that herds cats.

we used to have Samoyeds, and our big old boy would herd all 4 cats into a pile and then herd them across the house. he was good at that shit!

I think cats secretly enjoy being herded! It probably gets exhausting being the boss all the time 🐱

We once had a border collie named Puccini and a bunch of cats. Every morning my mom would go into the kitchen to feed the cats and when the plates were done she'd call out "breakfast" or "Din-din" and Puccinin would herd the cats into the kitchen.

Puccini was SO helpful! 🙂
