I don't know how previous generations went about their days not being able to look up what their friends paid for their homes
I don't know how previous generations went about their days not being able to look up what their friends paid for their homes
HEY
Truthfully you were not the target of this* *At this time
… okay but for real, the insane Myst house down the street is for sale and we should go see it later
i do love books
say more about this "Myst" house
I will say that when we first moved in, the guy who lived there came over to introduce himself and to explain apologetically that the house was “like that when I got there, I’m not this weird”
Wait, but he chose to buy it. Doesn't that make him exactly that weird?
…would you like me to ask him, or
“Hmm, sir, but have you considered the fact that…”
The next time he stops by.
as long as he doesn't have his sons trapped in books
He did pass away recently!!
even more reason to check those books, also RIP to that guy
there is a building at George Mason U. that: 1. looks like it came from myst 2. was the home to a faculty member who dressed like a wizard, cape and all
Was he able to complete the manuscript which was his life's work?
pls put spoiler tags on posts about 32-year-old games
You have to swap discs like three times just walking through the foyer
no I don't keep tabs on old apartments of mine and what they rent for now why would you say that
ok i have to say iowa has an insanely easy public records situation and even when we were literal children my friends and i would spend friday nights looking up our classmates' houses
I bet realtors were exceptionally good party guests at certain stretches of history
Was that the original MxMW?
yes, definitely (myspace by midwest)
I found records of what people paid for houses in my neighborhood on microfiche back in the 90s. it was eye opening.
It was kinda weird when one of my employees just randomly brought up what I paid for my house a couple months after I bought it.
Isn't this why we all learned how to read baseball card value books
no, i really thought my Penny Hardaway beam team was gonna set me up for retirement
Look, we are just playing the long investment game here. Penny is cyclical. *pulled a 1st Day Issue rookie card in 1993 and genuinely believed it was like winning Powerball
I’m sure you, like me, don’t cross-reference the purchase date with historical interest rates to determine their payment. Because that would be nosy.
a real sicko looks up the mortgage in public records. fun way to find out just how rich your friend’s parents are!
"we're moving!" wow congrats I'm definitely not heading to my real estate website of choice immediately
“we are not gonna see them at trivia for a couple of years”
"House purchased 2019- $200k" "House listed for sale 2024- $300k" WHAAAAAT? *Joe Dirt reading Auto Trader voice*
Those of us in the 12 real estate non-disclosure states miss out.
Friend recently sold last Octoberish and just finally found a new house so naturally the entire time we joked we’d schedule showings while they were selling and then we’re going to drive up the price were they buy.
Sadly I’m guilty of this.
this is no crime
If it was, I'd go away for life.
It’s called journalism.
Is called Ethics in Real Estate Journalism. Paul, a Real Estate Novelist, who never had time for a wife, knew this in 1973.
In Louisville they would print it in the paper.
I want to be very clear, that when I look up my friend's new home it's not because I want to know how much they paid. It's because I want to look at the photos and tell them all the projects they need to do on the new house.
Please let me have this my wife won't let me do projects on my own house anymore 😭
The cousin to: what is our house worth now? What about my last house? Damn I could have gotten more money (no you couldn't have, stop it, don't make me block Zillow on your phone)
everybody's homes back then only cost like $3,000, so nobody was really all that curious about it
ah fuck you're right
thank god we no longer have to lure them outside their houses to go in and manually measure the square footage
Looked at the home sales in the newspaper every day
I mean they could, they just had to work a lot harder for it
The level of petty joy I felt knowing my ex would know what my new house cost…
I like pulling up my house on Zillow and seeing all the old people furniture that was in it before we bought it 11 years ago
People are always so weirded out when I mention that I can look up that (and ownership) on any property on the county auditor’s site for some reason.
It's how I find out who has rich parents, since I KNOW what these friends do for a living
