I was thinking the exact same thing! We should make it mandatory that ANYONE that wants to run for ANY type of public office (local, county, state, or national)…they MUST be able to pass a college level exam on the US Constitution and the US government (all three facets)!! Don’t pass, can’t run !
This would probably end yp like old voting "literacy tests" and just cause more harm. Remember, every tool is a weapon, every weapon a tool. if we use it to enforce our beliefs, so can others.
There are ways to do this effectively and fairly. My gawd, we expect other professionals to pass exams before they practice.
Doctors, lawyers, financial services folks, pharmacists, long haul truck drivers —-many people and professionals that we all interact with day in and day out. We EXPECT those folks to have a better than average working knowledge of their specialty.
Unfortunately, I am thinking you are right but the absolute stupidity of those elected officials that don’t even understand the very bare bones basics of the constitution is mind boggling !! You should at least have a working knowledge of how our country and government functions and works!!
