I think the thing that’s lost on Bernie supporters is they don’t want to believe that people actually my have like what he said, but when they looked at the cost of what he advocated for it simply didn’t seem realistic. Had Bernie moderated the amounts of what he was asking for, it would’ve been ok.

While I agree with your statement, it will be important to reflect in the future where everything went wrong. Right now you fix, then you MUST assess how to protect against repeats Bernie getting pushed out damaged a lot. He WAS the anti Trump, and insane enough many of his voters went to Trump

Possibly, but pretty sure a big driver behind Trump's success is habit votes. Bernie wouldn't get the the Dem ones if he tried to run alone. It likely would also split people from voting for Hillary to a greater degree than Trump, splitting the left. I think he chose the best route but got screwed
