Your post is mis-informed. Puerto Rico is already part of the U.S. for over a hundred years. Greenland could petition all they want, but until Denmark agrees, there would be no action.

Well, actually PR has held that vote a few times and it's never passed. Some there want statehood, others want independence I welcome them here if they choose to join and wish them well if they choose to go, but just as a matter of fact, PR voters are divided on the issue
