Just left a railway waiting room where almost 1/2 the people were reading books. I feel there should be a convention that eveyone holds their book up for 20 seconds to let everyone else see what they're reading, thereby avoiding the whole awkward business of getting caught* stealing a glance.
Some of them might need brown paper covers! π€£

You'd be surprised! Some people were even embarrassed to let people know they were reading Harry Potter on the London Tube when the book first came out When I was working in the 60's it was because they were reading Lady Chatterley's lover. Different times! π€£π.

Quick. Exit the railway station. Is there a newsstand? (first clue) Go buy a paper (25 cents, second clue). Look at the date. Does it say month/day/1975? (third clue) You somehow have entered a time warp. Head to the nearest disco and dance your ass off. Enjoy!
Oddly enough, I was reading Solvej Balle's 'On the Calculation of Volume', which is about, more-or-less, a woman caught in a time warp.

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised to see so many.

You might not believe it, but I didn't know that. I can't even manage a kindle.

My wife and I were waiting for our car to be finished at the dealer; we both sat reading books while most others were looking at their phones. Just then a guy slipped into a seat facing us;"May I join you?" He was reading a book also.
