What do you love? Beschloss asked his readers that question awhile back and they all said the people they've met and admired all their lives that stood up against injustice. The injustice that defines America.

For me, I loved who we were becoming. Injustice has permeated the USA since inception. But those of us who know first hand about oppression also see how much sacrifice there has been to ensure that future generations are better off than those before us. Thank you, Ancestors!
Who we were becoming is past tense. I celebrated " who we were becoming" when Obama won when I should have been paying more attention to the forces of darkness that were not only still there but growing stronger.
Yes, I know it is past tense. Don't confuse my love for the US as viewed through rose-colored glasses. Being black and a US citizen is like being raised by an abusive parent. “To be a Negro in this country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a rage almost all the time.” James Baldwin
