Every time there emerges a seemingly spontaneous surge of enthusiasm for the Next Great Dem Leader it’s bc (1) America is founded on personality cults & (2)people want to feel they’re experiencing real emotions rather than being the test subjects of a consultant class floating a potential candidate.

I get it. At the end of the day, you’re voting for a person, not a list of policies on a platform. I think it’s why Kerry didn’t do well. Or even Gore as a follow up to Clinton, even though that outcome was as close as can be—arguably cooked. A “better” personality might have won, hands down.
