More Transit Southern Ontario @moretransitso.bsky.social

Excellent article today in UrbanToronto regarding the King Street priority corridor. After 7 years of transit priority, the street remains unchanged, with no timeline for when improvements are coming. This is low hanging fruit and the city is failing big time. urbantoronto.ca/news/2025/08...

Put bike lanes on it and tell Dougie that it was originally a transit corridor so he'll put it "back" that way when he rips out the bike lanes

Simple street reconfiguration would do wonders. Replace jersey barriers with permanent curbs. I’d close two short blocks to all motor traffic: between Simcoe and University and between Yonge and Victoria. Neither of which have any garage access points.

It's not even a low hanging fruit. It's in the bushel already for anyone with some transit vision.

It also makes it feel very strongly that the city doesn't use 'pilot projects' to actually test and effect change, but rather as just another way to delay and avoid progress.

Most European cities would have pedestrianized and streetcaranized this corridor yesterday.
