I don't understand this obsession with replacement rates. Even with the US' 1.6 rate (thanks to horrible GOP policies) and assuming no migration, we'd still be 200M people 60 years from now! I don't get the insane hyperbole.

Well we of course will need all those people to do all of the jobs that ... uh, wer'e going to automate out of existence with AI?
They only want to replace jobs that are either actually likely to be enjoyable - or ones where no humans means no whistle blowers.
Right? We're approaching the Singularity, where we all join in a hive mind, but we want a bigger hive.
