Im Canadian and being a communist as so many Repuglicans call us, i would suggest more childhood intervention, dealing with the American poverty issue, and accessible education to curb violent crime before it starts while simultaenously getting criminals off the streets and actually rehabilitating

them by providing mental health, cognitive behavioral intervention, and trades training while in prison, for those who will see the light of day sometime. Crime is a symptom of the issues. If the issues are never addressed, crime will continue to evolve with every neglected generation of the poor.

Crime rates are directly proportional to how sick the society is. The sicker society, the higher the rate of violent crime. Work on why society is sick, and crime rates will naturally fall. “I want to grow up to be a violent criminal” said no child ever!

All of which are good counterpoints and policies democrats should advocate for to counter his approach.

Thanks. I have been preaching cure society and crime will decrease. If you think if post war America, the most successful period in her history, crime was low and people were able to work and have substantial buying power, without anything more than a grade 12 education, that was a healthier society

Yes but the problem with solutions like yours is that they aren't flashy and the results aren't immediately apparent by doing it. And our nation doesnt do long term very well

Maybe its time for a change then. I think its something both countries need to address.

Both countries have enough people incarcerated that if they could be reformed and welcomed back to society, get a job and build a life, the chances of reoffending are much lower. And it costs the tax payer less than keeping them incarcerated habitually.
