Doesn’t this ultimately shoot Israel in the foot? Other democracies around the world are finally showing signs of standing against Israel. The U.S. is now basically a stand alone country now. Still strong enough to pussy foot around, but disappearing from any kind of leadership

Ultimately, yes. That said, Zionists see this as the only path forward. Apartheid's days are numbered from the second it's born. Israelis, like the Nazis, feel a combination of pressure and power that makes now the time for a final solution that will erase the people who challenge their legitimacy.
