Sorry I didn't respond at the time but I was thinking about what you said off and on the whole time. You're right. I consider myself nearly as radical as they come and yet I find myself defending him simply for being mediocre in a sea of total shit. And I was just thinking about why?
There's a combination of gratitude for him being much better than previous governors in my lifetime, genuine appreciation that he's at least taken a performative stance for trans people (even though it's common sense). From personal interactions he's struck me as genuine if not wrong.
*but also wrong*. Pritzker seems thoughtful, but his class position and upbringing prevents him from being a true friend to working people. I feel genuine fear for what is to come, so I was looking for a life raft even though I knew that it had not yet been built.
