His attitude toward Deku is classic self-loathing gay. He uses his quirk and his brain to compensate for being gay in a society that doesn't accept queer heroes. Until he meets Kirishima—who's arguably openly gay—he's as repressed as they get. Hori did a fucking banger job and I'll never forget it.

Not to mention just how many official pieces of art there are featuring Kirishima and Bakugou together. I was scrolling through Pinterest and realized just how much official art has them side by side or interacting in some way. It's INSANE. Someday, I'll collect all the pieces and share a thread.

Pretty much no other duo (except, arguably, TodoDeku) has THAT MUCH official art. Kirishima and Bakugou are together so much that looking back, it's like Hori was smacking us all over the head with them.

I don't think they're just best friends. They could be, sure, but Hori purposely had them go hiking for Christmas! He purposely has them in couple's costumes! He had Bakugou give Kirishima his festival jacket! They're shown constantly sharing food! He has Kirishima sitting SHOTGUN in Bakugou's CAR.

Hori made the nature of their relationship VERY clear, but he did it in such a slow manner that editors either didn't catch on or didn't think it would be a big deal/think anyone would notice.

Seriously. The amount of official art with them together is NUTS. For a tertiary character (Kirishima) to get that much attention is wild.
